Can this be opened & inspectected while still monted on the ody?
I know Bill is a big proponent of replacing it, but this was for my kids to ride safely at the inlaws farm as opposed to a 4 wheeler. It is all stock, nothing performance & if all it needs is a spring or two or three, to make it right...well then that is what i'll do.

Yes and no... I strongly suggest you remove the Engine do service the clutch its not that hard once you have done it before.

Well, i've not done it before, never had the Engine out. we were looking at the clutch while i was working on the carb & my brother in law almost started taking a wrench to it...but then it was time to do the tie rods on my car instead.

the clutch bolt is 5 1/4 inches long and you cant get it out because of the frame. Some have drilled a hole in the frame and done it that way. i agree with Hoser it is easier if repairs have to be made to pull the Engine.
