my fl250 was sitting for about 4 month.

I took it out Thanksgiving weekend near Yuma Arizona.

My wife and the kids road for about 5 hours thru out the weekend.

At the end of the day it turned off i din't worry becuse the weekend was over.

at home i thougth it would be a maintence issue.(carb, filter or plug)

After checking all that with no luck. I did a comp check, 30psi scary.

pictures and more info coming up

I hope you haven't eaten another piston.

Your pipe mods may have made it a bit leaner, though I hope not.

Wow!

With that much metal floating about in there I'd say it's probably time to do the bottom end, bearings and seals. Hopefully the rod bearing is still good.

If you're going to leave it as gravity feed you might want to braze that tube over.

Definitely.

Sucking air will make it leaner big time.

I'm amazed it lasted 1/2 an hour that way.

It was probably running really good towards the end, but making a lot of noise, pinging, etc.

Isnt it funny how well a ruined piston will run sometimes. Like my Dad has said" ran great right before it blew up".

Hee Hee

I'd be nervous about the bearings and seals, especially with that much metal being ingested, but if you clean it thoroughly and reassemble and it passed a leak down test you should be good to go.

I will look tomorrow for another STD piston, but I'm pretty sure you got the last one I had. I'm more likely to have STD rings than a piston since I've liquidated most of them this last year, but I'll look anyway.

I also have a half dozen or so engines in various states of assembly, so I'll dig into those as well.

From the looks of that piston rings are toast. Even if they wernt after new bore or hone new rings would be recomended, sorry. Hope you cranks ok. Check it over closely.
