Hey guys, i just picked up a 1984 FL250 Odyssey. My uncle had one of these when i was a kid and i just thought it was the coolest thing back then, so i had to find one. It is in pretty good shape, but I'm sure it needs all of the regular maintenance done to it. I have already went throught and redid the parking brake and the regular brakes, and gave it a good cleaning.

Here is my first of many questions. I went to check the transmission/gear box oil and it looks like it is way too full. If I am reading my Clymers manual correctly, I should be able to remove the check bolt and the oil should be right at the bottom of the hole. When I remove the bolt, oil just pours out of it. I'm guessing the guy that had it put way too much oil in. Am I right in thinking that the oil should just come to the bottom of the bolt? I should be able to just let the oil drain out till it stops right, then it should be the right amount? Could it have damaged anything by overfilling it so much?

you are correct sir. make sure you are level and remove the check bolt like the manual says and let it run out. Over fill;ing should not cause any harm tha i know of. I run Honda 10w40. how about a picture or two and welcome to the site.
