Any of the Canadian forum members speak French? Maybe could help translate?

Just a thought...

Agreed I think that was what made the luddude buy successful.

I always wanted to try the 94C on a Pilot I just need to find the part number for the correct offset, I was always impressed how they performed and lasted on the 350's my current Engine setup might be pushing the limits of their capacity but would be a good test.

I don't know anybody that speaks that gay language! The website does have an English version, maybe they will have an English version of the French/Canucks there to translate, either way Ill cough up the long distance and give it a whirl. From my previous links it seems ATVR is asking retail which is like 339. I wonder how many members here would want one or two, I gues it will depend on price.

Just a comment on the QDS guy.I don't know him but have read threads where he really helped the guys out and was even machining custom adapters to mount the ALTs onto the GM engines. The guys said customer service was good.

I would be interested in another for my stock if the price is good, good idea see if you can establish communications first then see what kind of pricing then we can establish how many we need to buy to get a deal :-) I was able to communicate with them by email but assume they had the computer translate my emails? I felt some details might have been lost in the translation.

If he does the machining that good, was thinking about seeing if he could machine the fixed flange, Ill spring that on him after I find out if his pricing is going to be worth the trouble.

Update,

Roy from QDS is taking his time in getting back to me with pricing so Im still waiting on him.
I talked to Pepe Lepew at CVT Tech. Not gonna be buying from them. He quoted $475, he said he can only sell to me at retail price because Im not a dealer, $475 for the ALT?? I don't think that's even retail. After I told him I would purchase 5 or more, he came down on price to $319. I thought he couldnt sell to me below retail since I wasn't a dealer?? Screw him. Ill wait to see what Roy can do...

Basically the same run around I got then when they gave me the contact info to the "dealer" he wanted like 500 bux for a clutch by time you got done with shipping and it was not the ALT he lied said they don't make them any more.

Power bloc clutches are not worth more than 200 bux each the casting quality is too low if they were cast then machined like comet clutches then I would say 300 tops but current castings are not thick enough to machine.

Time to forget about the power bloc they have run their course they were a great clutch in their day and they were a economical low weight simple maintenance free clutch compared to the 102C comet and the quick shift, I say its time to figure out what the back spacing is for the Pilot and find a 94C that has the same back spacing and use the 94C on the Pilot, have seen many full mod FL350's running the 94C without any problems have also seen them used on sleds that make more power than a Pilot Engine does without problems. Just make sure its the HD version of the 94c where you use the 6 pucks or 8 pucks what ever it is so you distribute the load better and it does not destroy the pucks.

The 94C is basically the same design (concept) as the power bloc they just cost more (then) and require more maintenance, you have to clean and lube them more often the power bloc used all self lubricating parts you just gave them a blow job after each race or ride trip.

Heres an update, looks like another deadend for the ALT Powerbloc. Roy from QDS called me today. He said a calibrated ALT, meaning a spring, sliders and ?? amount of weights, is $469, so much for good guy or volume discount. Read my last post, CVT Tech quoted $475 or buy more than 5 or 10 for $319. So no discount from Roy. I might be looking for a Comet 102c with a cover

I have always had good luck with the 94c except for the chirping noise they always make even when new and lubed properly with Comets clutch lube, anyhow I would like to figure out how to make a 94c work but for now I might just go with a 102c or buy an ALT from Neil.

So here's a dumb and I'm sure over-answered question: What is the difference between an ALT clutch and one you would buy from ATVR? I'm asking this because their's a guy by me who is selling one and I want to make sure I know what I'm looking at!

Not a dumb question its a good question, far as I know ATVR is still selling the basic ALT style power bloc, that's what they sold me back in 96 you would have to call them and ask what they are currently selling to confirm but I am pretty sure all they ever sold was the basic ALT, HRD sold a power bloc that had a curved cover this was his design and built to his spec.

If you can get detail pics of the clutch in question and post we can probably comment and advise more.

Hoser(or anybody)have you ever read/heard/seen why HRD made the clutch cover rounded? Was there a reason?

Herald told me that the rounded cover worked better throughout the entire shift of the clutches
