Can someone help me out? I'm such an Engine noob.Here's what i have. I live at 2500 elevation which way do i adjust the airscrew and how much? how do i adjust the idle without a tach? i mixed my fuel 20:1. is non ethanol premium what i should run? also are all the small tubes just drain ones? thanks |

Air screw: The air fuel screw on the 2 stroke carb isn't like the air screw on the older carbs that you have to adjust until the Engine starts to die the back it out a quarter turn until it runs good. The screw can be left in the position that the owners manual states. Idle adjustment without a tach: You want to adjust the idle on the Engine as low as possible without stalling and a tachometer isn't needed. Just go get her good and warmed up and then adjust the idle down to the point where it runs smooth and doesn't stall. Non Ethanol Premium: Yes! The mixture of 20 to 1 is a bit rich for these days as the 2 stroke oil have improved tremendously in technology. Small Carb Tubes: Yes these are the vent/drain tubes. Rand |

well what about cheaper oil, i live in the sticks, so easily accessible materials is a must. so if 20:1 is too rich.... by the way i use cheepo supertech 2 stroke oil |

Is supertech that blue walmart shit? Ditch it if so. The less expensive and still high quality stuff I use is Honda GN-2 mixed at 32:1, it is about $7.50 for 32oz, and works really well. |

Good oils really not that expensive. If you want it cheaper buy it by the gallon. I'm running good shit at $55 a gallon. That gallon of oil will treat 32 gallons of my fuel at 32:1. That's $1.72 in oil for every gallon of gas I run through my machine. A gallon of gas will bring you a ton of fun for that $1.72 in good oil. The cheap shit by the quart probably costs a buck or better per gallon of fuel. Is that really worth it? Plus that supertech shit just flat out stinks. |
