OK, so conventional wisdom says to fill the gas tank / drain the carb for winter storage.
- Full tank reduces volume available for condensation to form causing rust.
- Use stabilizer to prevent gas from going bad over the winter.

Now most of us have 10% alcohol in the gas.
The shelf life is short, it starts to go off in about 30 days.
Even with stabilizer a 3 or 4 month storage seams long.
So what are we doing for winter storage?

My Odyssey is the only bike I have with a metal tank.
Even my cars have plastic tanks now.

You sound much better prepared than I am. Put gas in. Burn it out! Refill. Lol Enjoy your buggy year around.

Seriously though. I would recommend topping off the battery and bring it indoors.

Winter is riding season in So Cal, just haul your shit down here and ride with us! LOL

But seriously, sounds like you will be fine. Pilots have a drain plug on the gas tank, if the gas does happen to go bad, just drain it and start over fresh. Carbs are easy enough to clean out too.

I top off the tanks of my two Pilots with 1/2 Race Gas (110 Octane Leaded) and 1/2 Premium (94 Sunoco or 93 Amoco Silver) waiting for the blends to change to winter blend (no ethanol if you can find it)with Amsoil 32:1. I fog the Engine and pull the piston to TDC (Top Dead Center) and cycle it once a month pulling the pull rope to keep the crank lubricated and put some Amsoil in the spark plug hole. I pull the batteries and hit them with a charge every couple of weeks while stored indoors. In the spring I have drain the gas completely if I didn't run them at all during the winter or if I didn't put Stabil in with the gas. I'd rather run $30 of race/prem gas in my lawnmower/weedwacker then fry a pilot Engine.

nickRNR, yes I know winter is riding season, I was born and raised in the South Bay (LA area).
Why I moved here still baffles me.
And unfortunately I did not win the power ball so I can not afford to have a farm in Ohio and Arizona, and move the cows with me to follow the sun.

I tend to agree that the full tank is best to limit condensation damage.
Which makes me wonder if condensation is not an issue in Arizona with it's 7% humidity.

As far as the fuel itself, the idea of draining it and feeding the lawn mower makes seance, but I will probably use gutter wash regular for that.
I can find no information at work, the whole metal tank thing is past and they don't care (sorry but your FL's are well past the planed for life of the vehicle)(and yes, I mentioned the idea of bringing them back just last week)(boss said no).

The only bit of additional information I found was to use marine sta-bil in the gas.
I do not have test data to back this up but a couple of the guys have older bikes and they swear by it.
