well i have been busy working on my second oddy. sad thing is both oddys have blown engines right now. so that's why i have turned my focus to the second one that i bought. going a new direction with this one. when i bought it i had a non running 400cc yamaha street bike Engine. i was able to get it running but it was only running on one cylinder, and the clutch wouldn't work. so i bought a trx 450 quad and thought it would be great in the oddy. but before i started the tear down of the quad i wanted to take it for a good ride, and just like everything i pushed it past its limits. it had what i was told a big bore 490 in it, stock cylinder was bored out and a steel sleave installed, but something went wrong and the skirt broke and and then it split the cylinder and water jacket wide open. just my luck. this i what i have got done so far. front suspension done just need to biuld another bump steer kit for it and brake lines.
today i made some Engine mounts and got the sprockets on, sorry no pic of that yet

Nice. Are you going to jack shaft the 450 Engine to the tranny or just move it over to the left to line up the sprokets? When you make the sproket mount for the tranny make a few of them. I have a fl350 roller that might need a 450 like this some day. Cant wait to see more of this project.

Cool build man! Will be watching this also. That's what those j arm stubs are really for... A ground clamp. Lol

The output shaft rpm of the quad motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) needs to be stepped up about 2.5:1 to the input of the Oddy trans, so a jackshaft is required.

thanks buddy. i did it they way you explained it to me last time by using the arc method. worked out really well, plus it really helped having the quad frame right beside me for measurements and stuff. i also added some rake into it this time so it should steer better than my black oddy. not sure if i want to do the same bump steer that i did on the black oddy or try something like cowboy or shoubadada has.

there wont be any jack shaft. when i bought this oddy it had no tranny, and some of the bracing was cut out. if it would have had a tranny i would be doing a 583 in it. it was ran just like a quad and that's how i intent to run it. i will try and get some pics of the sprocket. the guy i bought it off had the sprocket welded on to the alxe shaft and i was able to modify it so that i can put any sprocket from the quad on it, after i was done i was not really happy with the way it turned out, wasn't really sure how to go about it but i made it work, not the prettiest. still might take it to my bro in laws welding shop and see if we can work something out a little better for it. but it should still work the way it is.

so far nothing is permeant in the Engine bay so once pics are posted, i am all ears if anyone has and suggestions or ideas

heres some pic.
the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) mounts arent mounted yet, they still need bracing and gussets for strength and support. the sprocket not really happy with but it does what i wanted. i had to add those tabs, and cut the old sprocket off leaving the tabs, had to have the offset for the everything to work in the small space. available for it to run. but this way i can run any sprocket off a trx quad now. i am also going to need a disc brake for the other side, the quad disc wont mount on to the mount that i have.

Ah... I see now that you are not using the Oddy gearbox. Scratch what I said about the jackshaft.

well took week off work, so i got three weeks off now, back for vegas had a great trip there. but its time to get back on this project. i bought a new big bore 490 cylinder and piston for it. so now i need to get the Engine rebiult and back together. need to figure out the wiring on this thing and get the steering done. exhaust and intake will take a bit to figure out. really cant wait to ride this thing and shift threw those gears.

Yep, in your pic file 0727...the image in the top half showing the Engine with the side cover off...there is a massive weld seam around the crank bearing. That ain't stock! lol Either its a repair, or the case was welded up and machined for bearing inserts. Generally, its the clutch-side that gets an aftermarket insert. So this is likely a repair. It looks pretty clean though.

yeah it was a repair that was done before i got it, seems pretty solid though

got quite a bit done last couple days. Engine is built most of the wiring is figured out. theres alot of sensors on this thing. thinking of possibly using the headlight from the quad as well. would be alot brighter than the shitty stock headlights. also using the rear tail light with brake light.

Several guys at the dunes were running LED bulbs in their machines and I was EXTREMELY impressed. I was told by somebody in camp that they only cost $35 for the bulbs and can be put into regular sockets. I have not looked for them yet but WILL be buying them soon.

HID not LED. You get the kit that fits a yamaha rhino with the H6M bulb and it is freakin bright

not much to look at but i will snap a couple pics and post them. soldered all the wires. i didnt want to tear into the harness, but had to in a couple spots. everything works on the steering wheel as it should.
