after making the decision that I did not want to destroy my Engine with the direct carb to filter set up I made this...

Let me know what you think. I will be setting up a skin on it pantyhose.

Do you have more pictures I am not sure I follow what you did, you run the new
hose down to the air box lid?

I like 2 hoses into the air box lid, it adds more surface area and allows you to
temporarily change the jetting on your Engine like on a cold morning by covering
one or part of one with duct tape.

Yoda,

I didn't have a airbox set up when I bought the pilot, it had a ratty old filter attached directly to the carb. This isn't a prefilter setup, it is the end filter. The tubing comes directly from the carb. Ignore the tape at the carb, I just wanted to make sure there was NO leaking (it did seal nice without the tape)

Josh

I am not fond of that type setup myself, you might find it works ok but I think a
better setup or the best thing you could do would be to find a airbox assembly,
buy it then modify with the dual intake mod.

I agree, it wouldn't have been my first choice either but I believe it is better than what was there.

definately get yourself an airbox and main filter then modify it with a dual intake adapter(vrroom may still have some)and add the dual k&n prefilters w/socks.
Even with a sock on that filter,it wont be enough to keep the nasty fine particles out.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, what would be differant about having an actual air box? Isn't the filter that matters? If it is the filter that matters, how about replacing the K&N with a foam filter?

It seems that two filter systems are a bit overkill (given that no ATV's to my knowledge runs this sort of set-up stock and that I don't ride sand). Of course, this coming from me doen't mean much as I don't know nearly what you guys do about these pilots.

PS - I'm looking forward to ECJ to pick your brains about some of these things!

The air box is a 'tuned' part of the whole Engine package, its tuning is similar
to a 'tuned' exhaust pipe. Lightspeed had a link to a sled site that went into
detail but I cant find it.
