My silencer blows out all the packing after a couple hours of use. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

What kind of silencer what kind of packing you using?

If it is blowing all of it out I would say your missing a vital part of your
silencer.

The sticker says it is a DG. All else I know is it is short [12"] and loud. The center core of the silencer is there and in place. The packing that remains looks black and burnt in places. Could EGT get high enough to burn the fiberglass pack?
Also looking at putting the universal turbine core arrester/silencer from FMF on my Pilot. Any experience with these?
