I’m very seriously thinking about fabricating the upper roll cage section of my pilot. Mine was tweeked in a roll over and I just can’t bare the thought of spending $350 to $400 on a new one form Honda (provided they’re even still available). I know others have tried (and done) this, however, I want to make mine look like a stock cage. If I go to the trouble to make the jigs and fixtures to make this a stock appearing “bolt on” unit, do you guys think there might be a market for this piece?

What would you expect to pay for an aftermarket roll bar?

Would it be smart to sell it as a kit that the buyer could weld together themselves (it certainly would be cheaper to ship that way) ?

I have the resources to make other types of tube structures, What other items would best benefit the pilot/odyssey group? Removable nerfs? Replicas of front and rear bumpers. Let me know your thoughts.

BTW…….. my resource to produce the fiberglass roof storage compartments has closed up shop. I had intentions to start making them at home but I’ve got a few more pressing issues at the moment. I still have both molds, a few hinges and latches and enough fiberglass cloth to make 5 or 6 compartments. If there is anyone out there that would like continue to produce these tops, I’ll sell what I have for $500 or best offer.

Thanks for any input on the roll cage (anybody know the tube size and wall thickness of the roll bar?)

ATV Racing already makes a replacement top cage for the Pilot, pretty sure Radical has one,
IMO 99% of the bent Pilot top cages I have seen can be easily straighten but 98% of most owners
go into pannic mode and have to have a "new" one to bend on their next roll over, if you
straighten it and still feel it is not strong any more you could add gussets in the
key area where they like to bend on the down tubes, to add strength you could get the
next size larger tubing and split it in half length wise then weld it on the back side for
more strength, if done right (nice smooth tig weld) most would never notice the
modification.

My cage has been straighten out a few times....

mechanic,

I don't have any tops, but I do have the molds. They're for sale. you could always buy them and make your own. I'll even give you enough fiberglass cloth to make 5 or 6 tops.

$500 or best offer.

As far as I know ATV Racing does still carry their roll cage. I have seen one installed on one my old pilots and not sure who has it now who could tell us it's success or failure:

Chromoly Roll Cage - The Ultimate in Pilot Protection! - $755.00
This cage is custom made of .083" wall 4130 Chromoly tubing, completely reinforced with an extra brace from the front corners of the roof down to the roll bar. All welded for extra strength. This cage bolts right on to the stock cage mounts. Comes with mirror and antenna mounts. Powder-coated factory red for great looks too. .095" wall Chromoly available as a special order, extra charge applies, call for details.

$755 is kinda steep except when you look what it would cost from Service Honda for just the bars:

Part Number Quantity Description List Price Your Price! Order
71910-HE0-000ZA BAR *R110* $448.2 $295.86 <Remove From Cart>
71931-HE0-000ZA BAR, R. FR. *R110* $96.33 $70.46 <Remove From Cart>
71932-HE0-000ZA BAR, L. FR. *R110* $96.33 $70.46 <Remove From Cart>
71942-HE0-000ZA BAR, R. RR. *R110* $84.16 $61.57 <Remove From Cart>
71943-HE0-000ZA BAR, L. RR. *R110* $84.16 $61.57 <Remove From Cart>
Totals : $809.18 Your Price: $559.92 YOU SAVE: $249.26

Make one for $400 and I would think you have some people interested in replacing
their old bent ones... Like hoser says, most of them can be straightened and I have
had the pleasure of tweaking more than a few....
