Would someone tell me how to fine tune this carb? It lacks low end 'snap' and falls on its face through mid range, it will clear out on a long run and run decent like it is running rich. The main jet is set with the clip in the middle and the idle screw is all the way in basically, maybe a 1/4 turn out. The air mixture screw is approx. 1.5 turns out. It has a freshly oiled UNI 2-stage competition filter as well. I need to get some grunt out of this thing!
This is a stock carb that was cleaned and rebuilt with stock sized jets and the Engine is now a .020 oversize with 135psi compression and stock exhaust.

How is the clutching? If your clutching is off you wont have a good launch out of the
hole, it will be like a quad taking off in second gear..

Does it have more snap when you remove the lid from the airbox?

the clutch is a POS stock that makes some noise, it engages just off idle and in fact it lurches sometimes while it is idling. Is there a way to adjust that or do I need a new comet setup? I do not want to put that kind of money into it. If I am running in mid range around a track I can keep it sideways through out the entire track, but it is running as hard as I can get it and I feel it should run twice as hard as it is. I can sit and do donuts with it, but it does not have the power to do real tight ones like it used to.

my fuel system is not perfect, I am missing the 3-way check valve, could this cause me problems? I am running a fuel line from the tank to the filter to the pump to the carb...period. I do get overflow because of this, but is that a possible fuel delivery problem?

I am not sure what will happen running it like that I do know Honda engineered it to
use the check valve, I would think flooding would be the problem if it created a
problem...

When I first got my FL350, it had a tee instead of the three way check valve and gas poured out the overflows as fast as it was pumped. Additionally the float needle is supposed to have a rubber tip that was missing so the gas could not be regulated. The floats were not set right either.
