How well would this system work in a pilot? Half way down. The Charlynn torque generator system.

http://www.howeperformance.com/sandcars.html

my question is regarding the pump on the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )). Would I be able to mount one and could the pilot run it? I have seen it done on a Drakart with a larger four stroke motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )).

I am a C5 quadriplegic with limited or strength. Looking to drive this thing with one hand.

NOTE: I am not speaking from experience so feel free to correct me

I can't see any reason it wouldn't work, but it may take some finagling.. Yesterday we had a 12volt VW generator and blower operating off of the main drive belt... was a royal pain, but it did work... (i am looking for more voltage from the system for battery charging)... in all the experiment had mixed results... it worked, but the generator and blower from an old vw is relatively heavy.. having to run it in the back offset the steering i will gain from having the battery bank in the front.. ie: it handled like stock again..

There are other options depending on how much strength you have in your steering hand and how fast you plan on going.. i steer my ody on flat terrain one handed all the time as long as it is moving, on rough terrain i start using both hands at around 15 mph.

There are other ways to get extremely responsive steering with minimal input, but they require heavy modification. Take for example the system i originally planned on using for my current project buggy. I planned on using an eps unit from a newer model honda or a trw unit.. My major issue is, with the load the buggy project will be running, the 2 motorcycle batteries will not be enough to handle steering at night if you do not have a heavy voltage load, electric power steering may be the way to go. You can find a cheap one at just about any junkyard with 1995 and newer hondas.. but getting a good deal on one is another story.

Joe Price (use to race stadium lites now races trucks) use to drive his power steering
pump off his Pilot Engine crank shaft on the recoil side.

I havent seen or heard from him in years.

You might search around the off-road truck racing sites for him and contact info,
I know he sold his car (triple E) a few years back you might post on the
boards and try to locate the new owner, maybe Ed at triple E knows what he
used for the power steering would not hurt to call and ask

thanks for the information. I will definitely look into that guy. I wasn't into dirt bikes before my injury so i have no idea how many rpm's a 2stroke gets to. I am sure this will determine what if any pump I can get. Seems like Ed over at Triple-e did not know anything about Joe prices pilot.??

Joe Price had a Triple E car with a Pilot Engine (500cc) not a Pilot.
