 Post subject: Still no idle...carbs?
PostPosted: Sat Jun 11, 2005 11:07 pm
I bought a "project" fl250 with the Engine in pieces in a box. Got it together with a new piston, rings, etc.. It came with 2 Keihin carbs also in the box. I took them apart and cleaned them up. I can get it started (with starter fluid) but it wont idle. I have to constantly gas it. With the choke on, it runs at a very high RPM. Usually pulling the choke on would kill the Engine. While im gassing it, ive tried adjusting the throttle stop screw all the way in and all the way out. It dosent do anything. This is the same situation for both carbs. Could both carbs have the same problem? Throttle cable adjustment? Air leak? Im about ready to buy a new carb. Any ideas would help.

check the fuel filter, and if its bad, replace it with a clear one so you can see the fuel going in
fuel pump?
