Ladies and Gentlemen,

I received a brake lever from a 2006 and up YFZ450 as a replacement for the Fl350 lever 43362-VM0-771 . I installed in on my Ody and it works just fine however, the lever is slightly harder to pull but it locks the ebrake up just fine. I haven't done it yet but it has a eyelet in it so you can attach a spring to assure the lever returns to its relaxed position. Due to the short length of this lever I highly suggest this is done because the lever may not relax completely.

Here is the differences in the 2 parts:

1.) Difference in length center line to center line .440"
2.) Difference in size in the cable mounting hole .75mm or approx .030".

I know its not a Honda part but those of you who want to use genuine Honda part can try one from a 1999 TRX400EX. Hoser actually posted a picture of this in one of my inquiries. I went with this part because:
1.) It is plentiful take off part.
2.) I purchased everything for 10 bucks shipped.

Thanks again to Jason, AKA.........PilotLoG0403

Rand

good work guys! is the screw in cam (not sure what to call it) that the arm attaches to the same as well? Or are you using the stock FL350 piece.

Ive got a pilot caliper that is wore out in that area. the threads have been wore enough that the parking brake cam wont fit snug into the threads and will rattle itself out. im trying to find a way to save the parking brake on this caliper.

Thank you Sir!

The screw cam actuator from the YFZ450 is different with an opposite twist. The piece I am using is the stock Ody part. Sounds like you need to locate a new arm which holds the cam and the end of the brake lever. Don't know about the Pilot but the interior slots the cam fits into in the Ody are a soft material resembling brass.

As an added bonus.....

The rubber boot is the same size as the Ody and the center adjusting bolt is also the same however about 1/4 inch longer.

Good for you Rand!

If it were mine,I'd be cutting off the star section and welding it to the OEM Ody's lever.
This way you have all the orig specs back, same length, cable stretch radius, etc

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. I had a spare I installed but wanted to repair this one. I will keep searching for options :)

Unfortunately I don't have access to a welder and all I have are simple hand tools. I could have someone weld one for me but this is an off the shelf that works. I actually like the fact that it take less swing of the ebrake handle to get the lever to activate the parking brake.

PM Received and reply sent.

That's the strange part about using this modification, is that the schematic for the arm does not list a part number. I picked up this assembly from evilbay as an entire assembly. For 10 US dollars I picked up the arm, the rubber boot and the adjustment bolt.

Now as I mentioned before, Hoser had replied to one of my posts regrading using an arm from a 1999 Honda TRX400EX. It will work and it will bolt up but it too is a little shorter than the factory Ody part.
