Well, after reading a number of post and not liking the idea of throwing away bores in a cylinder I gave wossner a call to see if they could help. From what I have been able to gather these pistons are the same pistons ProX is currently using in all of there 250r big bore cylinders. I have talked to a few builders and they are very happy with the quality. I was told I could get any piston size I needed but would have to buy a minimum of 4 pistons in each size. I was thinking an order of 24 pistons would be very easy to meet with the buying power of this forum. That being said the lead time would be 8 to 10 weeks from the date the drawing was approved and pricing would be 162.00 and if you want a moly coating another 25.00. I am not trying to make any money off of this I would just like to be able to service my fl350 properly and provide help to a place that has helped me greatly. If anyone would be interested please let me know.

here is our emails

Robert,

on 24 parts, the price would be $162.00 per piston. This price would include the piston, rings, wrist pin, and wrist pin locks.
We do offer a moly skirt coating for an additional $25.00 per piston.
Our lead time on custom pistons at this time is approximately 8-10 weeks from the time we have an approved drawing.
Thank you,

Chris Phipps

Hello Robert,

We require a 4 piston minimum order on all custom pistons. We can make multiple bore sizes, however each bore size is considered a different order. For instance, if you need 2 bore sizes, you would need to order 4 of each size minimum.

Thank you,

Chris Phipps

So what sizes were you planning on having made?

I am willing to order whatever size the group needs or wants. I would personally like to get a few more bores out of my stock cylinder rather than jumping up to the std wiseco size, and if any of the members have a good std cylinder I am sure they feel the same way. I am just testing the waters if I get enough interest and confirmed pre-sales I will put up the cash to make this happen.

Does that mean your at 78 (pre recall) and wanting to get in betweeners up to 80mm?

Or 80mm, hoping a 80.25 will work?

I would guess most people have post recall heads, starting at 80mm going to 82mm

I wouldn't want to push that air cooled cylinder over 82mm with the cooling restraints of the system

Good digging in any case...another resource option for the 82+ pilot cylinders

Look at the sleeve thickness on a 82mm cylinder not much left.

On the FL350 the Pilot sleeve is thick as hell you can take it out to about 85mm the 350 sleeve has almost nothing left to support the piston at the bottom of the cylinder at 82mm.

Mine is at 78mm that is one of the major reasons I was looking to go this route, but from the sounds of it there is not much interest in it. I just figured with the factory pistons being so hard to get and rings there would be a high demand for pistons other than wiseco per this forum. On of the nice thing is that on these pistons there would be no reason they would come without the oil holes pre drilled from the factory.

Some of us 300r guys have been thinking of going this route .The only way to get pistons for the 300r is to search forever on the innernet and hope to find a NOS piston or send your cylinder off and have either the top or bottom milled down and use the atc/trx big bore piston. The 300r starts at 76 mill and if you can find oem over sizes up to 77 or 77.50.
