Don't get me wrong I really appreciate the help and have tried dozens of things. I WILL TRY THIS, but I honestly do not see how the starter is involved seeing that the starter relay/solenoid normally keeps the starter motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) ((Internal Combustion Engine?)) disengaged. This means the positive lead on the starter isn't connected to anything while not cranking electrically.

I get all the symptoms with just using the pull start.

Im really coming to think that either my CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) or Stator is going out.

My money is actually on the pickup coil or stator.

Just a though. Have you checked the ignition / Key switch

In the pass after a good pressure wash I had a issues with moisture in the switch. You could try and spray WD / Inox and give the key a good giggle.

It could you grief.

just a though

I mentioned that earlier and he said he checked all that with a meter and it read good.

Yes the ignition and stop switch are measuring ok. I even tried bypassing them entirely and it made no difference.

I was able to source an oe CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) box off ebay brand new for only $100. I thought that was a decent price. I hope it works else it'll go back on eBay. I'm also working a deal up now for a replacement stator. I still think it's the stator.

The replacement CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) solved the issue so it seems. The original CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) was making intermittent spark and a very weak at that. The brand new (!) replacement CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) off ebay makes it spark about 2x larger, looks perfect and is stable. Thus No stator replacement required yet.

Apparently they never fail from what I have read here on this site so it will be a first if it is the issue.

I haven't seen one fail with any of the FL350's I have played with but I had a Kawasaki Z1-900A that gave me fits until I finally figured out it was the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition).

For those of you dying to know how they actually work, here is a very nice simplistic explanation.....

So I got the only CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) on the planet that ever failed lol. I've had failed cdis in my jet skis but this was new. Basically the whole thing is running like its never run right before with the bad CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition). I can also swap in/out the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) units and the old one is definitely a goner.

I did find something online about re-soldering the board inside the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) but it takes effort to get apart and then looks like crap...

So what was the final verdict?
What was the cause and the fix?
