My pilot has the cr250 reed cage. The only markings are ZX3 on the reed stops. What year would that be from? I did not put those in but they are shot and I need new ones. What would the boyesen replacement number be? Any help would be appreciated. I took the cage to the local honda dealer and they ordered boyesen #607, but I think these are the stock replacement. Can you help?

I found a picture on the site, I guess it is an 88 CR 250 cage. This is the one I have, it looks exactly the same. The only numbers on mine are KZ3 on the reed stops.

It seems that Honda went to a 4 petal reed design in 90 and this threw me off because the manual only showed the 6 petal reed. I thought that it might have been swapped out to the cr250 cage like I had read about before. After further research into Hoser's archives I found the truth. The problem now is that the local honda shop ordered the wrong reeds.

FYI: 1989 pilot Boyesen power reeds are part 607
1990 pilot Boyesen power reeds are 633X

Thanks for the site, it is an invaluable source of info!

call the shop and cancel the order - If it has not yet been shipped it should not cost you a dime...

I got the order cancelled and they ordered the right reeds. Now I have to wait.
I got started on another project, a Banshee (2 cyl 2-stroke water cooled 350). A friend got it at the city auctin for $150. The city has an auction where they sell off confiscated items and he got this banshee with broken plastic and no headlight, no key. The clutch cable is froze and the rear brake pads are gone but it fired right up. So the advice here is that you might want to check out these auctions!
Thanks for all the help.
