So I recently found a dust cover for the 102c for $14 to my door. I jumped on it cause it was cheap and it was the first one i found still for sale but then started seeing some people say the the clutch will overheat. Anyone have one on theirs and if you do have you had any problems? Tried to do a search on here but only got limited info

I have a 102c and a dust cover - but have not installed it yet. Here is a link with some discussion.

I don't recall anyone having overheating issues. Depending on what environment you ride in, running it without a cover could do more damage than any possible excess heat.

I would be a interesting experiment to ride it without a cover and then use a IR gauge to measure the temp of clutch and belt, then put the cover on and ride the same path, same speed, and distance and then measure the temp.

I have a john Deere 100c clutch on one of my Odysseys. It came with a cover. I tried this cover on the 102c clutch. It fit it aswell. Once I get the clutch turned ill install the cover. So keep your eyes open for other clutch covers because they may fit.

Tony, myself and a few others run the 102c with a cover. I use a cover to keep out moisture, dirt etc. I've had mine on my Oddy for 3+ years and have ridden in 95+temps with high humidity for hours with no issues. The cover will also keep your rollers and other moving parts from rusting provided you coat them with comet live real well before you install the clutch/cover. I think I paid $30 for my cover which I also got from John Deere because I couldn't find them anywhere else. I probably should remove the cover and relive before I go riding again to check for rust and see how well it stayed lubed too. Good luck! Randy
