When I replace this seal I can leave balancer intact right? Going to start teardown tonight but after looking at service manual looks like I can leave in but just want to be sure. And yes it is the inside seal not the one on the cover with water pump.

May I kindly suggest that once you get the bottom end apart, inspect all bearings and seals for replacement. If you only replace one seal, everything else might go bad later on in time. If it were me, I would do a full rebuild and replace all bearings and seals.

To answer your question about the balancer, the balancer can stay in, but you will probably need to remove the balancer gear. I would actually pull the balancer and inspect it as well. The bearing on the balancer and the bearing on the balancer cover may need to be replaced.

Best of luck and keep us posted, please include some pics once you get started:)

Will do Engine looks like was totally gone through not long before I got it. I think the seal went out prematurely because he had antie pumping into balancer area going to clean everything well and check bearings. Can't believe he had antifreeze hooked to vent. People never seem to amaze me!

The Pilot was not run very long plumbed wrong?

You can pressure test the Engine and verify if that seal is good, if it is good I would not change the right side seal, the right side seal runs in about the perfect environment its in a bath of clean oil on one side and in a bath of clean gas /oil mix on the other side of the seal, the anti freeze water should not hurt the seal, the crank bearings are inside the Engine and not exposed to the coolant in the balancer oil, you could remove just the balancer and wash out the bearing on the balancer shaft then oil before reinstalling, the bearing on the other end of the balancer could easily be changed think they are like 11 bux from Honda if you wanted or just clean and inspect to see if it shows any wear.

I would change the balancer oil after each tank of gas for a few tanks just to make sure its clean.

Yes it's bad. Ran pressure test air hissing bad out of balancer vent. I would assume it's that seal. Is it possible to replace with out totally removing Engine and can I also leave balancer in but just remove crank gear?
