Well Works Performance call me back todsy. My shock bodies both were cracked. Now clueless on what shock to use. Spring rate as well. I need a 15" eye to eye shock. I was thinking about an UTV shock. But wanted to ask here first. The shocks will go on buggy in pics.

Anybody know of any applications I can look at? Works is gonna spec my shocks out and call me back for replacement price. But i bet that's gonna be arm and leg.

Also having problems finding seat cover replacement for seat in last pic.

Thanks.

I just looked at summit. So rebuild kits but no bodies. Works told me the bodies were cracked. And the could not fix it. Was told they were no good and could not repair them.

What is cover you speak of.

Something like this.....

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/jzp-1 ... /overview/

They have boat loads of different style seat covers.

Duh. Brain fart. I thought you were talking shocks. I forget I mention seat covers.

It's a big wide seat. I tried 2 covers. Both way to small. My father in law in going to try make one.

the shock thing is killing me. Works did not call me back with quote on building a pair. Would Japan larger atv front shock work on this buggy? I have about $300 I can spend on shocks.

The works website has a list of ATV's and their shock sizes:

http://www.worksperformance.com/pdf/app_guide/atv.pdf

Maybe find an ATV with a matching shock length and comparable weight and check ebay for shocks for that machine? Just a quick look, the 1998+ Honda TRX450ES front shocks are 15" and you can get brand new Progressive Suspension front shocks for it for $270. Obviously not going to ride as nice as the works, but maybe work in a pinch?

Thanks big time for the chart. I got about 10 hits to start searching and researching. I think some of the bigger ATV maybe close in weight. I got scale so I can weigh my buggy. I would guess 300 400 pounds.

My problem is I don't have much travel before I starting hitting stuff like brake rotor. Maybe 7" or so.

Question, does works have a chart for UTV and snowmobile?

And works is not calling me back with specs. Heck I may even drop $500 plus just to atop thinkibg about it.

thanks again for the chart. I got a derection.

About that chart and the bike you quoted. You have to check the stk for size. If it's 15" and has S code it's stock lenth. Got to watch the S and L codes. Those are works sizes .

at all the bikes I got

trx250r 86 89 front 15.25

trx400ex 99- on 14.75" front

Yfz450ft 04 front 14.50"

Originally I found like 13 hits.

update.

So i find pair per the chart. Double check atv forums and the chart is wrong. Errrrrr

It figures, nothings ever easy! Progressive Suspension has two models that you may want to consider:

http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Suspe ... =512-1011B
15.5" long, 120 lbs/in rate

http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Suspe ... =512-1009B
14.5" long, 125 lbs/in rate

Also, these Honda Rancher shocks are 14.5" long and only $45:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/A-2007-07-Honda ... 1Y&vxp=mtr

15" long shocks seem to not exist, unless you want to spend $600!

I am gonna call progressive maybe.

Thanks.

Hey Bighead.....

A TRX400EX only weighs in at around 380 pounds. I used to have a 2005 TRX400EX.

The trx400ex are over 15" it's the trx400es that are 15" but the foreman is close to 1000 lbs. Might be a little stiff. What do you think?

I wouldn't go with the foreman shocks, they would be way too stiff.

Have you thought about using Fox Air 2.0 shocks? I used on my FL350 Ody and they were 15.29" eye to eye. They are also adjustable with nitrogen pressure.

The fl350 is 15 1/4. But i would have to modify or make a bushing. What's an fl350 weigh? 600 lbs?

You may need to make bushings but the beautiful thing about the 2.0's is that they have Heim joints both top and bottom.

The factory FL350r Showa shocks were 15.25 eye to eye but the 15.29 Fox Air's worked with no issues what so ever. You can go even longer with a shock for the Ody if you want to make slight modifications to the Ody U joint yoke.

Yes the FL350 weighs in at 600 pounds.

Like I said, the Fox Air 2.0's are adjustable with nitrogen pressure so your Challenger weight isn't an issue.

in this pic you can see my axle rides about 1/2 above the frame rail. So i can't really go longer that 15". If I used the fl350 shocks and made some bushings maybe I can off center them to close to 15?

Even 15 1/4" is cutting it close. I powder coated to soon.

Okay finding 14.5 and 15" shocks searching ski doo sleds. 2000 440 ski doo formula touring sled has 14.5 eye to eye. Just about the same weight. $60 shipped. Okay condition.

Does anybody see a problem with front sled shocks?

Thanks.

One thing you need to look at before buying shocks is how much horizontal movement does the shock need in order to work properly.

Both the top and bottom of the shock need to have to ability to pivot at their mounting points. Remember, the bottom of the shock will swing outward when the suspension is going through it's travel.

Ended up going with a pair of fox shocks from a sleds front end. Off older 440 polaris sled. Comparable weight. Paid $75. Shocks will be taken apart and cleaned. Repainted.

Thanks for the help. Hope this will work.

Works Performance does not want my money. I called 3 times and all 3 times they say they will call right back. 4 days go by and I call again. Plus 2.5 weeks after they receive shocks. Not happy with thier service.

The sled shocks did not work. Way to soft. Back to drawing board.
