Post subject: fl250 fuel lines routing
PostPosted: Mon Nov 14, 2005 7:17 am
I am new here, love the site so far, and the next round of java is on me :-) ,

I have been searching around a bit for the answer to my newbie novice questions, and I have one or two that I have not been able to find answers for. This is the question I have, and I want to begin by saying that I have a manual, and I have looked at an on-line manual also, and nothing that I've looked at shows a clear diagram for "all" of the fuel lines in the system. I just bought my first Odyssey FL250 a few days ago, and the guy I bought it from had changed the fuel filter and put new lines on, but one of the lines is not connected, and I'm not sure if he might have forgot to put a hose on??? Here's what happens when I try to start it:

I am getting fuel to the filter, and to the pump, but there is not a drop going past the pump. The other hose on the bottom of the pump is the one that is not connected to anything. I thought this was just a breather???? But there is a fitting on the back of the crank case in that general area that I was thinking it could go to. I haven't tried to connect it there yet with fear of something bad happening. It fires right up when I take off the air filter and prime the carb, but no fuel pumps past the fuel pump, so as soon as the priming fuel is used up it shuts down. Someone has to have some good clear photos of the fuel line system and where everything goes?? I would really like to see some pics of a properly lined fuel system so that I can be sure I have everything connected correctly.... Please help,,,, I need to ride!!!!!!!!!!

P.S..... I will post pics of this machine exactly as how I bought it, and updates as my restoration happens. And thanks in advance for this great site!

Welcome to the site were glad you found us I hope we can help.

Your real close to figuring it out you need to run a hose from the Engine crank case to
the fuel pump a vacuum pulse from the crank case is what drives the diaphragm in
the fuel pump and pumps the fuel.

You hook the hose on the crank case (blue arrow) and connect it to fuel pump.

Check this out when you get a chance it was written by Bill Keefe

IT WORX!!!!!!!!! That was exactly the ticket!!!! I don't believe it! This thing is awesome. 8:30 in the morning ran it about 5 minutes in the G-rage, then scooted it out for about a 45 second ride to the front lawn for a "Before" photo shoot. and then stuck it back away. nice lil ride. I'm going to cruise it later on this afternoon. No major problems right now, just some asthetics that I would like to take care of. Here are some pics. Thanks again!
