Well getting bored now being off work for 3 months already. Lots of jobs around for millwrights and my ex-shift partner from a few jobs ago offered me a job at the place he works part time. So it's either get a job or do more work on the buggies. Hummmmm.
Still waiting on my "buddeeeeee" to bend the two pieces of pipe I need for the rollcage, so that I can start the rebuild on the death machine. Its been a couple of weeks already -- F me how long could it take ?? How tough is it when you got a proper bender ?? Starting to lose it.
Anyways I dug out the bent rear swing arm from the death machine. This arm is fixable. Pics below.
This might take a few days cause it is low priority.

Well the one beside is a little straighter

I assume you know that the bent is a weak spot.

Are you going to strengthen it. As you have the time.

I am only suggesting it, as we all know that you have trouble staying on the flat stuff.

LOL

I was waiting for that comment. That "bend" will be pushed out. It will look like factory when done.

, as we all know that you have trouble staying on the flat stuff. ---------- That's only because we got no flat stuff anywhere near this area of the world. LOL. I have to drive for hours to get to flat. Nearest place is Merritt and that area is rolling hills with some thin tree'd mountains sprinkled in between. Nearest really flat spot is Alberta - 12hrs drive away or Washington state USA 1 1/2 hrs with badge happy border chimps on both sides. You can't fall off a flat LOL.

Went out to the shop to do a bit on the bent arm.
Turned out very nice actually. Now I just got to weld up the hole and paint.
I have a hydraulic press so it made it easy but you can do it with a hammer, punches, some various pieces of steel and some good clamps. You also need a hole saw and welder.

File comment: First bore a hole with a hole saw. I recommend you get the correct size you need because I cut mine a bit smaller than I needed but it worked out anyways.

More pics.
Note also that I had already straightened it in the press before I bored the hole -- not that it really matters.

I was going to say, I think I have a couple trailing arms in the attic, but it looks like you're all set LOL

I can assure you that anything in the garbage can in my shop is unfixable.

File comment: I don't know if you can see it well but I had to weld the tube that the shock bolt runs through. It was cracked where it is welded to the arm. This crash was real violent.

The final result.
You can obviously see the marks from the repair through the paint but as far as I am concerned it is good enough. A guy could probably do a bit better by playing and trying to get all the welds, dents and hammer marks out but I don't own trailer queens.

I promise you I've made an uglier repair..lol
I cut 3 slices into one side so I could bend it back, then I welded up the slices. I couldn't find a trailing arm at the time, and I wanted to ride dammit..lol .
