Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I could do to fit my stock FL250 carb elbow to my new Engine?

I have a new Engine I dropped in, but the intake manifold sits a little farther back than the original, so the stock intake manifold boot was too long. I replaced that with a Mikuni boot, but now I'm about 1/2" too short and about 1 1/2" too low with my carb elbow. The carb is the stock Keihin 28 mm.

Sometimes the simplest problem is the most difficult to figure out.
Right now I am thinking a radiator hose that fits the air box side and then cut sleeves for the other end to fit the carb. By sleeves I mean the extra pieces of that hose that you cut down to fit the small end you want and then it is all contact cemented together in the hose. You would need one of those preformed hoses that has a 90' on it. Not sure if that would be a solution for you.

Two good ideas thanks.

I went down to the local plumbing supply and found a rubber reduction union and a straight rubber union. I trimmed the carb side of the reduction union to fit, then assembled the whole mess and it fit like a glove. I could probably guild the lily with some rubber cement.

Well that does look like it might work. The thing I am not sure about is how can you tighten those clamps to make sure you got a good seal without crushing the elbow ?? You don't want it to slip off or worse -- leak.
I like rmesser's idea.

I agree with CO that the hose will crush.
Solution is to find a section of tubing that fits the inside diameter and cut rings to insert in the elbow ends before assembling. This will keep the hose from crushing.
