You want to get you idle as low as possible without the Ody stalling. There are those of us who have their reverse limiter and start only in neutral disabled because of this.

Ah, makes sense. That must be the plug at the back of the tranny.

Took a quick video after completing the right rear of the FL350 (less the shocks as I am waiting on my spring compressor to R&R them). She fires right up. A lot less 2 smoke now. I lowered the idle to just before she wants to stall out. Is the slight gear grind noise normal on these?

You can get the Ody to not grind going into gear, you just have to set the idle to extremely low and the Ody needs to be warmed up so it will idle at very low rpms.

I replaced my drive belt with a Carlisle. After I did that mine always wants to grind a little when it goes into gear.

Hello,

Did you see the video? It really is the lowest it can. It will die if any lower. I may just remove that safety feature on starting only in neutral. Really don't want to destroy my trans gears.

This is what I was thinking as well. The PO gave me a spare new belt which is made by Parts Unlimited, even the old one was the exact same one. I am wondering if the original ones were longer to give it more slip. Just my thoughts.

You're idle will go lower! Your Ody has to be COMPLETELY WARMED UP before you set the idle. It has to be at full operating temperature in order to get the idle as low as possible.

Roger. Will try and get it lower after it runs more and warmed.

Installed new sight glass, hard part was having top drill and tap one of the cover screw holes as the screw broke. Was hoping for the best that the piston seals were good. No go, buying a full rebuild kit (front and rear) with pistons. Gotta make it safe.

Not too much activity on the FL350 this weekend as I had my sons 10th Birthday Party at my house. It was super fun but prepping was about 3 days. Anyways, R&R exhaust and installed new springs, O-Clip and O-Gasket. I used a Harbor Freight pipe expander to get the header to DG pipe to fit better, then put a 2 inch exhaust clamp. No more leaks and spooging from the leaks.

Next is to remove the springs from the shocks and paint the springs.

I got this one off eBay. If you don't get the one I got, make sure the pistons are different. I asked one seller and he said they we're the same, I bought elsewhere.

Front Shocks R&R, lower bushing totally gone on both. This must be a known issue. Did a McGyver and found plugs at the local auto store and modified to fit. Painted a few more front pieces and front wheels as well.

Very nice work sir. Looks great.
I see that you are using the stock rear springs.
You will find that the rear suspension will be non existent. Rear spring rate is WAY to high.

Thanks sir. Yes, I know the springs are pretty stiff, but with my fat butt, I can get them to compress by pushing down on the rear end. Going to run them for now and decide on the Works shocks after I compress my vertebrae, lol.

Front wheels painted and new metal valve stems installed. Reassembled the painted parts. Fitted front fender and used my heat gun to bend one back into shape. Repaired the left rear fender and painted it, have to do the same for the right rear and front ones. Not showroom looking but since they are hard to find, gotta try and save what I got.
