On my fl350, I am having fuel flow issues only pulling about an ounce or two of fuel in 10 secs. I have the old circle Mikuni pump currently. I have read compression issues can cause fuel pump issues. A friend of mine is going to do a compression test for me. I keep seeing numbers from 100 to 170. What's the acceptable answer from test I need?
Then if compression is good, next step open fuel pump and check it out or just buy a new rectangular one I see as a current day alternative?
Thanks, Michael
I have run an
Engine with 110psi compression. That's on the low side for sure. Around 140 to 155psi is real good. I use a the stock head gasket with only one leaf or a .010 copper gasket (hand made). The stock gasket is actually three layers of metal. Take it apart and use the thin one.
As for your fuel pump I would say if you got enough compression that it will run, then you got enough to work the pump. If your only getting "an ounce or two" your ded. I use a mikuni pump from polaris. Part #3085275. They are cheap so why screw around trying to rebuild yours and then it may not work.
