Ok I had a chance to strip the axle assy apart today

Not pretty

I will look at getting it welded but I don't like my chances as
it will create a week spot. But will look into it

Does any one have a spare they want to part with if so let me know
also interested a broken one.

Also looking for the wheel carrier side as well but no rush on that one

see pics attached

I'd try to weld it even while looking for a replacement. Can change it out when a replacement is found and keep it as a back up. I think the philosophy when it comes to the odyssey/pilot is repair and reuse everything u can.
The weld doesn't have to be pretty and just use a hand grinder to clean it up.

I have seen that before. One day a guy I didn't know showed up at my house (long story) with an axel that looked just like that. He was also holding a shock that was bent like a horse shoe. Basically I made a brass plug in my lathe the same size as the caps and then welded it. Put in new u-joints for him. I also have a 20mm reamer that I bought special just for this kind of issue. I feel this reamer is a must have tool.
Shock was taken apart and the shaft was straightened in my press.
He hasn't been back so I azzume it was all successful.

Edit: I feel that if you don't if you don't own a 20mm reamer then doing u-joints is a gamble. The replacement u-joint caps are fragile. Get rammy with them and its over. I run the reamer straight through to the other side. This will make sure there are no burrs and it is all in a straight line when put together. If you decide to buy one then make sure you buy a straight flute reamer. Also you only turn the reamer in one direction - never turn it backwards. Also use oil. Just my opinion.

That was not a long story. Come on give us the long version.
The moral of the story is ! It can be fixed.
Where did you get the reamer?
More info on fix or link to already posted info.
CO, was it difficult to to do. Or can any back yard hacker do it.

I just edited the post above.
adnoh I am a back yard hack n whack guy. We all are. Well most of us. Very few here have a machine shop. I bought the reamer at a local machine shop. They ordered it for me. It is not a difficult job. Very straight foreword but you need the tools and time. Don't get rammy.

The long story:
My buddy was looking for a job as a truck driver as he had just got his class 1 license. He saw an oddy in the back of some yoyo's truck and just had to stop and tell him about me (he likes to bullshit). Turns out he drove truck for the movie industry here and just bought this oddy. They exchange phone numbers. A few weeks go by and he calls my buddy saying he had a problem with the oddy and wanted my phone number and address. Guy showed up with the busted axel and bent shock. I gave him the low down on oddy's and all about this site. Unfortunately he is not a computer guy and doesn't even know how to use one LOL, omg how do some of these people get a job. I fixed his busted stuff and told him to make shock savers. He looked at me like I was on crack. Obviously had no clue what he was getting into. Maybe he could be a good stunt man.

Settle

I had a call form the shop and he was concerned about the metal used
in the knuckle assy.

I picked it up and taking it to Welding fab shop this week to get them to have a look.

I would slap them upside the head.
It is busted and useless now so it does not matter what the metal is.
I just use standard 7018 welding rod or even my fluxcore wire welder for a small boo boo.
Mine work.

Edit: Just had a coffee and a break and time to think about this. I bet they didn't know how to fix it. You have to make a brass plug on the lathe the same size as the cap OD. Then you weld it with 7018 rod. If you have a small void you can fill it with flux core wire or leave it. You would be the judge of that when looking at it. Then you MUST run a 20mm reamer through the whole set up. Put it back together and good to go. We are not building space shuttle parts or parts for a 1000hp dragster.

CO "" I would slap them upside the head. "" sorry is that a Canadian saying LOL

Yes it is broke. Yes they do know how to fix it.

They know that their as scarce as rocking horse sh!t.
Short ver. They spoke to the Fab shop re the damage to
the knuckle. So I picked it up and dropped it in today.

They are going to clean it up and heat cycle it and weld it.
Because they were concerned of hardening and it becoming brittle.
The place I took it to does a run of cast items every Wednesday
they run heating ovens and sand cooling boxes.

I have found another Axle assy through a Ozzie POOH member. :-)

But I will still get it fix and get it done right. Because I don't want it to fail.

Yes they all the bits to finish it off and even machine the cir-clip grove back in
