So I decided to build the famed 3rd link. I know speedchaser has done it and I hope he can chime in.

What do you guys think ?? Would it work ??
By the way it became real obvious to me that the ends must be hiem joints. There was some binding because the bottom tab could not pivot.
This is just a proof of concept idea but it seemed to work.
It is pure bolt on (no welding).
I have no plans to continue with this because I don't want to buy rod ends.
May be Dave-co will pick it up.

your set up will bind way to much
you need to take a old stock shock and take the spring off and drain all the oil
the shock is one of the pivot points and you will need it in there to test for bind on the axle
I done this before you will need your heims joints on the center line of the u joints on the axle or it will bind

been there done that it will bind But can be done
The Heims joints need to be in the same center line as the u joints on the axle. Or it will bind then it will put strain on the u joint

So this is what I got and I'm kinda stumped at where to put the pivot points that it wont bind. The suspension seems to move in a strange radius. I was going to mount a steel plate in the back tube held on by U-bolts (I don't have a welder yet) flat accoss the back.

I used 3/16", 3x3 angle iron. its mounted at about a 15* angle from the bearing carrier. The bolt hole should be horizontally center with the axle.

This is difficult to measure. I'm unsure how to measure the center of the u joint to the frame. I need more tools/brains.
I am also unsure if the pivot in my angle iron bracket is center either.
Any tips?

I am doing this mod to mine and I will incorporate speedcasers safety link as well.

See pics

Measure from the center of uni 1 to center of uni 2

make the drag link the same to make is work as I see it

1A must be the same distance out from the arm as the center as 1

2A must be the same distance out from the the frame as the center as 2 is

The Pivot points must be in line

But there is another problem

the distance between 1 and 2 change through mid way through a rotation
it is not much there is a fine line there this is were Speedchasers comes in

see this little video

That's just my take on the ?

Here is a qoute from Speedchaser from the 3 link post CO had put up.

yep looked at your first idea I'm old and blind LOL
The chain is a good idea but you should run a shock and see what happens to the chain
the rear travel is not in a straight line. it travels in a radius in two directions and its surprising that it actuality works.
Honda did some weird stuff with the rear suspension to get it to work with that axle

Speed blind and dizzy :O)

Please think about the very crux here: Two Directions.... How about a picture from above, showing that the axle and the added 3rd link are aimed toward the same center point, (both having fixed ends) and the arc the suspension travels is back and out.....

I throw that out there because I see much discussion on the link having the same center lines as the ujoints, yet the link angle is super important if breaking stuff is to be avoided. Just 2 cents...
