I finished welding up my top cage for the death machine and took a break tonight.
Spent some time tonight looking around the net because of this CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) thing I have now got stuck in my brain from reading CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) posts here lately.
Below is a PDF of Honda parts codes. It is important to understand the numbers ---- even though I have a warped understanding of those numbers. Bare with me on this.
In that pdf it says that the first numbers indicate the part and the second set of numbers indicate the bike and the third set indicate suppliers or improvements. My interpretation of those numbers (however warped) says that only the first set of numbers is really important. You will also note that some of the numbers have been scratched out and another number very similar put behind it with the last three numbers the only ones changed, so what did they change ?? My guess is the plug.
I don't give a sh*t what bike it is off of as long as that number is correct, so the middle number or letters mean nothing.
The other numbers at the very end don't mean much -- sort of, as I have found out. I say sort of because the numbers at the end according to my research are just telling us what kind of plug in is on the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition). Also (and very important) will be a notation that says "DC". In other words if it don't say DC at the end then it will be an AC unit I am guessing. Very few have that DC designation at the end, but lots of models use the DC unit. Just click on where used.
So now that I understand that the first numbers are the ones that are important I need to go to Honda Parts Warehouse: https://www.hondapartshouse.com/error/n ... /honda_atv
It will come up as an error don't worry just click the tab "Honda parts".
In the drop down list just click on the ATV tab.
Next type in the oddy CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) number 30410 and hit enter.
Check out all the machines that Honda makes that run that CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) box --- FkN near everyone they make and many are still available. Anywhere from $60 to over $100.
I clicked on several of the "where used" tabs and took a look at the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) box displayed (note: you will probably have to scroll up as it seemed it took me to the bottom of the page so scroll up to see the model you want to look at). It seems many of them are a twin plug six wire or some other configuration. Well unfortunately the oddy is a single round with six wires. But I see no reason why anyone of these would not work, but you must verify if the oddy is AC or DC to choose the right one.
I may be way off base on this theory so feel free to shoot at me.

I don't know if the oddy is AC or DC as I have never needed to find out.
