Can anyone tell me why there seems to be a tremendous hatred for the oddy u-joint axels ??

Very skilled members are making and switching to Lobro style axels, like the stuff seen here in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17728

I have had no issues with my oddy axels, and if you modify them slightly, you can run slightly longer shocks. I will be posting on this as I progress with my death machine (Christine) rebuild.

Well my reasoning was several things. First of all the stock suspension setup is just a bad design. Using the axle for the third link is just rediclous. I'm truly amazed they hold up as well as they do. It's not the joint that's hated, it's the suspension. The idea of doubling the suspension travel and switching to a common and affordable axle is a very desirable concept. I'm sure it's not for everyone. I have several I will always leave stock. I'm also working on modifying stock shafts to add slip yokes to them. With this I will have to add a link bar. But this would take the suspension load off of the joint. I believe this would be a vast improvement over stock.
