Possible bendix issue.
On your starter there's a small gear (the bendix). As the starter turns the centrifugal force of the starter motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) rotating causes the bendix to slide out towards the flywheel. It's is possible this is not happening. You need to remove the starter and verify the bendix is extending. I don't care if it's new.

Also verify starter is rotating in correct rotation. Find it hard to believe it is not at this point though.

It could also be that if you just rebuilt the Engine that you put the flywheel on backwards. This would cause the gears not to match. But at this point I find that hard to believe.

What Can Odd said......

Lube the bendix. If its not lubed, it may not be able to overcome its return spring and engage the flywheel.

Measure you batter with a volt meter at standby and under load.

So checked the starter bendix is kicking in and out when pulled off and tested. When on the machine it will spin but not kick out, like its lacking enough power to get to the starter.

Just curious but you said new starter. How new ?? If the battery is up to snuff could it be a brush on the armature hanging up ?? I am grabbing at straws now.
Lube ??

Ok Brand new starter, when pulled off and tested it works fine. When on the machine the bendix will not kick out it just spins. Brand new battery.

Not sure what to recommend now.
Maybe pull the new starter apart and have a look inside at brushes, comutator and lube bendix ??
Don't know. Sounds like it don't have enough power.

Use a volt meter and test under load like rmesser suggested.

I know its not getting enough current, what could cause that issue?

Could it be a burnt wire ??
I have seen wires that only have two strands left that weren't burnt off.
And that could be any wire in that circuit. Oh my I am really grabbing at straws now.

Sand and clean the ground between the Engine and the frame.

Check your switch on the steering wheel. My Ody required me to dismantle the switch and sand and clean the contacts because of corrosion.

Oh, one more check... the solenoid.

One of Duneit's vehicles had this issue but it was intermittent if I remember right.

Just for fun grab the battery out of your truck and get a set of jumper cables. Jumper your oddy battery. Now you have eliminated that power issue. If no go then inspect the wiring.
The reason I am even suggesting wires is because you said you have a new starter. That tells me you cooked the other one. If you cooked the other one then you were probably cranking the hell out of it trying to start your machine that didn't want to start for what ever reason.
Don't get mad as I am just trying to diagnose from a thousand miles away.

So I have cleaned between the starter and where it mounts on all points. I have changed starter solenoid. Even crossed the post and still getting same thing. Any ideas of why I am not getting full current to the starter to kick the bendix out?

How about putting a jumper cable from the battery ground directly to the starter frame ??

Did you oil the starter Bendix as I suggested earlier?

Other suggestions.....

1.) Try to rotate the Bendix itself in the opposite direction that it free spins. If memory serves me right, it should rotate but at the same time it will extend outward as if were engaging the flywheel. If it doesn't do this then more than likely it is bound up and should be replaced.

2.) Try using the old Bendix on the new starter body.

Yes the bendix was oiled. My next move is to pull it back of and swap it with my old starter on the other oddy and see if does the same.

may sound stupid but, you said it was a new battery as well..did you charge it, most new batteries are not fully charged but at the same time i have never had an issue where it wasn't enough to turn the Engine over at the very least

When this one finally gets solved I hope you post the solution.
I used the search box here but came up empty on solutions for the FL350.
