Ok so my FL350 electric start has stopped working. When you press the button all that happens is i get a clicking sound.
I assume this is a pull the starter and clean or replace job.
Managed to get new brushes and coil from honda dealer.
Not really sure about this process and am learning as i go with my oddy
Could i get a walk through of this process ? I cant seem to find details in the forums
If i do need to replace any one have a source? Link?

That looks like a nice shop.

Before you go crazy and pull the starter make sure you got a good FULL battery. Also use your pull start and turn it over a bit and try electric start again. You might have a dead spot on the flywheel. Unlikely but try it.
If you do have to pull the starter then it is easier to pull the Engine first because you have to almost dismantle half the machine to get it out. I believe you even have to loosen off the brake disk to fish it out so just pull the Engine. I have never done it in place myself but that is some of the info I remember reading on this site. I always just pull an Engine if there is an issue.
As for the starter walk through I think it is gona be straight foreword. Use a felt marker to make sure the ends line up with the center magnet and make sure the center faces the right way when it is all together. If I find some pics on my computer I will post.

Here are a couple of pics I just found.
You can see there that I almost cooked that starter. The armature is almost cooked black around the windings. Also the comutator is gummed up with poo (between the copper) and I used a knife to clean it out (VERY CAREFULLY). You can also see that the comutator is worn down a lot but it still works fine with the new brushes. The old brushes completely broke up.

One word of advise would be not to go crazy tight on the small bolt that sticks out of the starter (the one that the power cable hooks to). When you take it apart you will see that this bolt goes through a PLASTIC piece and then through the metal thingy with the two brushes on the end (first pic -- yellow wires with brushes), and then it goes through the starter body. If you tighten it up real tight you could crush the plastic bits -- not good.

This bolt also has various washers and insulators on it so pay attention on this when you take it apart.
Every faggot at work runs around with a phone but no one seems to use the camera function.
Take your cell phone out and take pics as you take this thing apart. Those pics might prove to be valuable later if you have questions.
I think this is an important part of this rebuild because you could shorten it out if you don't put it together with the insulators correctly. This is a straight foreword job just take your time, you can't be in a hurry. Clean it up nice.
