Was going to replace a leaking seal on fl400 transmission. Since I have it down was going to put one of speed chasers knuckle rebuild kits on it with new cv boots but was wondering if anyone makes replacement bushings for the radius arms? thanks in advance Glenn O.

I don't own a Pilot but I did look in the parts book pdf.
It looks like those are integrated bushings (not replaceable). I might be wrong on that though.
If they are integrated I think a guy could easy fix them by drilling out the old crap and then using a two part rubber mix, pour your own bushing.

Oh my ,read up on the set up and wait for others to chime in what to look for pre ,during and post rebuild. That spacer is very important you will need to check some thing before during and after. If not checked and done correctly you may do more damage than good. It will impact the axial clearances once axle is installed and torqued to spec. It can lead to bearing failure or knuckle race wear and or both. The decrease / increase in axial will effect the radial. Each bearing is made with preload tolerances stay with these tolerances upon inspection and rebuild. If something is not right you will notice before and during the rebuild process. If you can wait and some one else don't help first I can talk more this weekend about the subject. To reference the clearances axial and radial if not sure look in a 350 manual under crank and it give a great definition when checking the crank bearing's. Then imagine the two bearing's in there race with a spacer between them then pressure applied in an axial direction on the out side of each bearing.

Well I must be thinking about a totally different item then. Not sure what is being referred to in this post.

I have read the manual and all I could find was take out the old bearings and replace with new bearings. I could not locate anything about tolerances although speedchasers rebuild kit has shims in it. I will reread the manual maybe I missed something. Glenn O.

Well I'm confused as hell. Speed made a rebuilt kit for the 1985 FL350 front arm which contains different shims allowing for individual adjustment of fit.

You are asking about the FL400 rear swing arm (knuckle) correct?

Speed also reproduced the bearing spacer, but there are no shims needed for that.

I believe the part you are referring to is # 1 in the diagram.

If your spacer is worn then I recommend replacing it. The spacer simply sets the distance between the inner race of the bearings, so that when you tighten the nut on the axle you are not putting horizontal load on the inner bearing race. The only way the spacer would wear is if the bearing locked up, causing the inner race to spin against the spacer. The chances of this happening are slim.

Hope this helps. If my understanding is incorrect please explain in more detail or even some photos.

The way I read his statement quote: "wondering if anyone makes replacement bushings for the radius arms", I thought he was talking about the end of item #8.

We need better info and pictures please. We are all confused about what you are asking.

Your probley right. My bad, I had it in my head he was talking about the spacer aka distance collar. No shimming unless issue with uprights. As far as bushings #8 never done anything with them or had to. Speed make parts for that.?
I thought I had put up video on this at one time. I need to look.
I know I did a write up in PDF form

Your right I screwed up and thought the kit fit a fl400 my bad getting old and not paying attention. I guess there is no rebuilding the radius arms so ill just repaint them and punch a new ball joint in them and be done sorry for the confusion. I was also talking about #8 on the Honda diagram. Glenn O.

If the control link ends have play I have to assume the rubber is bad. ATV bushings makes a kit for the front control arms.

I wonder if it would be possible to use the kit on the control link ? Just a thought.

I worked with them on a group buy for the pilot kit. They are nice people to deal with. I have always wondered if they would be able to reproduce Engine mounts out of urethane.
