This pdf will explain basically what you want.
It don't matter if you use the intake or the exhaust port to pressure/vacuum up the Engine.

I use freeze plugs.

Here is the link to my post on how I made mine. I use the actual pulse line to hook my pressure gauge and supply valve in order to pressurize the Engine. The intake and exhaust are sealed via freeze plugs.

Alrighty, compression check done and you guys guessed it... it was running extremely lean. Compression is at 100 psi. So now what? Does rhat mean i need to rebuild the top end?

Unfortunately yes.

Minimum compression at sea level should be around 120 PSI.

Yup ur ded ------- sort of.
It may not need a complete rebuild. It got hot and that caused ring lock. Just pull the cylinder off and if the aluminum is not smeared all over the cylinder wall you can do an easy re&re. I would pull the entire Engine though, because it is to tough to work in a confined space like that. Anyways, you can skiv the rings out of the grooves using a jackknife and a small hammer to tap it around. Get the knife between the ring and piston and tap it around. After you get the rings out you get the wife's nail file and clean up the grooves until the ring moves freely. If the piston is scared up a bit just buff it with sandpaper. If the cylinder is smeared with aluminum then you got a bigger job there. You do not have to have it bored if the cylinder is not scared up.
This is exactly what happens when you run poor octane fuel and it detonates.
My money says you just got ring lock.

Almost forgot.
DO NOT TAKE THE Engine APART UNTIL YOU DO A PRESSURE/VACUUM TEST !!!!!!
This is a golden opportunity to see if this was caused by an air leak in the Engine (bad seal) or if it was shitty fuel. Trust me.
Amen.

You can also do a quick piston to cylinder clearance check. Slide a feeler gauge between the piston and the cylinder. I you can get bigger than a .006" gauge in there, it's probably next size up piston and bore time.

Hey light load :-) -- any info or updates ??

Sorry for the lack of updates, i work at a hospital so work can get very busy, unexpectedly.

So today i pulled the Engine, it passed the leakdown test with flying colors, that sorta suprised me.
I don't have the right size wrench so i couldnt take the piston out lol but looking at the cylinder from what i can see of it nyway, it looks perfectly fine no marring or scratching. Hope that's the case for the bottom of the cylinder and the piston. So i gotta make a run to lowes and continue the damage assessment lol. Although i did notace the piston is pitch black.

The carb mod looks better than I expected.

The flat top of the piston indicates it's an art piston and probably a 78 mm bore. You can easily step up to 80mm and still have 4 more bores in the cylinder before its ready to be replaced.

Once the cylinder and piston are off, place the piston back into the cylinder and on the bottom side of the piston check to see what the clearance is between the wall of the cylinder and the piston is. Over .006" and it's at minimum new piston time. More than likely it will require a new piston and a bore job.

Take some pictures of the side of the piston and cylinder wall, that will be another indicator on how it was running.

I second Rands comments here.
That carb mod does look like he did a good job at it, but unfortunately it was completely unnecessary. All he did was cost you money and time. Now you gota fix that hole in the carb he made.
Agree that must be an art piston. Like Rand said, it's probably still original bore. You won't find rings for that size piston anymore, so it will be over bore time unfortunately. If you are lucky then all you got is ring lock and you could try to skiv the rings out and clean up the grooves. But be prepared for more work if it don't work. If all it does need is rings unlocked then make sure you do a compression test on the bench before you put it back in the chassis.
The piston is black because the guy was probably running it real rich so it don't melt down a piston. Jetting and fuel is a point of contention on this site.

Alrighty, will make a trip to the shop and pickup a feeler gauge. I found my 14mm wrench finally lol. So I was working on getting the cylinder off and on the 4th bolt I was gifted a nice suprise... the nut head is completely stripped off... great. So I’m gonna soak it in wd-40 and let it sit, and pickup a chisel and try to tap it out tomorrow.

But man I hope the rings are still usable... I don’t even know of a shop around here that can bore it for me... let alone how much it would cost, and I’d need to find a new piston. I can feel my wallet getting lighter :/

Yeah people just don't realize how much it costs. A lot of times here a new member will show up and make about 3 posts and then disappear. This is a hobby and hobbies cost money. Lots of it. Tires alone are $400 dollars a set -- think about that. But it don't matter if you are ATV'n , fishing , hunting , gambling , dating, it all costs big bucks. People will spend thousands on a vacation and smile but when the local auto shop wants $300 for fixing the car so they can go to work, then they start bitchin about being ripped off. You need real money and time to keep your oddy running ------- that's a fact.

NOTE: The stock oddy piston has tapered rings !!!!!!
When you get the cylinder off and if you decide to remove the rings, then make sure you mark them correctly for reinstallation. Mark which one is the top ring - bottom ring and which is the top side - bottom side.

Post subject:  Re: Fl350 carb issues

Yessir! will be sure to mark them. Yeah i knew this was going to cost me but idc... i want it running and running goooood. I just hope i can get it running good for as little as possible... then i can spend money on suspension kits and other cool stuff i font know how to do yet lol
One things for sure, im not gonna give up on this project, iv always wanted an odyssey. Even if it makes me poor... well, even more poor. Lol

I did find a 80mm piston kit for about $130. Does this look correct? that's not bad at all, just gotta ask my buddy where he got his bike bored at.

Yeah your exactly right can oddy, and id much rather spend 2 grand on odyssey than a week getaway.
But to quote a friend ‘it doesnt matter how much it costs if you want it bad enough’. People can be ADD and lose interest easy.

Easy buddy easy ----- your getting way ahead of yourself here. You may not need a re-bore yet.
That is a good price for that piston though and it is the correct one.
I paid over $250 Canadian for that piston. I also blew up 9 in a row until I figured out the secret -- AVGAS

Ay man im just mentally preparing myself for the worst. Then ill never be dissapointed lol.
But good god man that's awful :/ I am seriously consudering avgas, id have to work out storage and where to get it but it does seem worth the effort. Which btw, have you found that it help with fuel consumption? Iv seen a few people mention it helps with getting a bit better milage. I could really use that on the trails i go to.

Ok i couldnt wait till tomorrow so i went to the shop lol. And heres some interesting info, the biggest guage i could fit was a .005 and the rings are not locked... they can move freely.
