I want to wire in the water pump to come on when the Engine is started or when the key is on. How have others done this? I don't want to add a switch as my son will forget I'm sure. I have a relay. I could tie into the keyed power up front but rather find a wire in back. Out side of testing every wire is there a known wire I can get?

I personally like a separate wire because I don't want to potentially melt down a wire because of an over load. You must also make sure you fuse it with a 5 amp fuse (if you are using the bosch pump).
Below is a color wiring diagram if you want to find a wire to tap into.

You can use the black at the rectifier by looking at that diagram. It has a 15 amp fuse in it but you can add one on the wire you install.

This is if you want to use the ignition to start the pump.
