Post subject:  More power for fl 250?

Hi there and thanks for posting.
I have herd of this mod and I was wondering if it was possible. Has any one done it? Is it recomended? what year parts am I looking for if I want to do the swap?

I want to keep the original fl 250 motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) in my custom ody but am looking for more power. What else can I do to it to add more get up and go? Is there a big bore kit that will fit the fl 250 bottom end? Like the 300cc kit for the '81-84 atc 250r.

What is the largest you can safely bore a stock 250 ody cylinder without worrying about overheating when running?

Any and all information will be a huge help.
Thanks and sorry for all the questions.

you can replace the cylinder and head with a 73/74 cr250 add a mossbarger reed valve and change the carb from a 28mm up to a 38mm.

this has been done for years on the fl250

i am in the middle of this mod myself

Awsome... that's exactly what I was looking for. Is it still a reliable motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) being bored out to 71mm?
How much of a boost would this make?? Percentage wise% ?

I am not a real motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) builder but i don't think the reliablility factory is dependent on the bore or over bore and you will not receive much if any boost from small boring. Reliability depends on things like piston to cylinder cleareance - piston/cylinder prep - jetting - right plug - not having any air leaks - compression - break in - warmup.

there are plenty of people on here that can give you more and better information than me. Go to Hoser home page and read everything you can find there.
