Hello. Working on my FL350 again.

I'm learning how to jet. This feels like rocket science to me but I'll get there.

The stock carb, the air adjustment screw is stuck in position and I feel like if I turn it any more it will strip. Any advice on getting it out? In general advice on removing stuck Jets would be amazing.

Thanks

Pics please so we can see what is going on.

Jetting: Just put in the stock jetting and you will be close. The one thing to play with is the pilot jet.

How to set your pilot jet:
In my opinion this is the most important for driveability on an oddy. They are just a pain in the azz to drive if it is constantly stumbling and not taking off from low rpm. Setting the pilot jet requires one of those small induction tach's that you can buy on Amazon cheap. This is what I use: https://www.amazon.com/Runleader-HM032R ... ll+engines
1) Basically you just wrap that wire around you sparkplug lead
2) Set your air screw out to 1 1/2 turns
3) Start Engine and let it warm up if possible
4) Set the Engine idle as low as you can, but not so that it will stall on you
5) Turn the air screw out half a turn at a time and wait about ten seconds before you do it again. What you are looking for is the point where the Engine idle rpm does not rise anymore as you are unscrewing the air screw. If you are out more than 1 1/2 turns or less than 1 1/2 turns then you have to change your pilot jet. If your air screw is more than 1 1/2 turns out, this means you need the next
size smaller pilot jet. If the air screw is less than 1 turn out, this means you need the next size larger pilot jet. Change the pilot jet and redo this test.
CAUTION: You don't want your air screw to fall right out so don't go more than 4 complete turns out. At that point you will have to change your pilot jet anyways.

That's it !! That's all there is to it.

The pilot jet is the stuck one in my situation. I tried heat and PB Blaster. Not sure this thing's coming out.

Maybe time for new carb.

Just a thought, but maybe using carb cleaner? Take it apart for a good cleaning and dunk it in carb cleaner or a sonic cleaner? Good luck

Tried that.

New carb!

Thinking TM34? Or 36? Thoughts? Stock Engine except water cooled head and cylinder

I run the TM38-102 on two of my machines and love them.
CAUTION -- there are at least 4 different TM38 carbs that I know of and the main jet in two of them is 100 points higher than the others. Not sure if that is the case for the 34's or 36's but just make sure you don't Fup on the jets. Start with what it comes with from factory as they will be close.
The other machine that I have has a mikuni the same size as stock.

Get a Keihin airstriker pwk36 or 38. There is much more tuning advice and support for Keihin.

I was looking at TM's because they are considerably cheaper than a PWK.

Does either carb require an adapter for the throttle cable or anything weird like that? Easy jetting is a major plus for me.

I was able to use the stock throttle cable on all of mine.
I do remember having to muck around a bit but was able to get them working.

Any thoughts on size? 32, 34, 36? 38?
