Has anyone had a u joint fail with shock savers installed?

Reason I ask is that I'm having a hard time figuring out if they will actually benefit in reality. If it fails on an inside corner, the wheel would fall in toward the center, correct?

I think you are missing the theory here.
They are called "SHOCK savers".
When you blow a u joint it will take out your shock every time without these shock savers installed.
We have had several incidents where these shock savers have saved me work and money.
These shock savers also prevent you from doing damage to a u joint when something fails.
See pics below.

File comment: Here is one from 2015. The bottom eyelet on the RR shock broke off.

File comment: You will notice the chain prevented the axle from smashing into the gas tank and you will also notice the chain prevented the wheel from ripping off the fender.

File comment: Here is one where the top eyelet on the LR shock broke off and the shock went through the fender. This was an aftermarket shock that I was experimenting with.

File comment: You will notice the chain prevent the wheel from completely ripping off the fender and also prevented busting a u joint.

File comment: You will notice he almost ripped the wheel right off the machine. Nothing will save you sometimes. I could keep going but I think you get the idea.
