I'm trying to order a connecting rod bearing (big end) for my pilot but the schematic shows three different versions: red, white, and blue. The guy at Honda said that you need to disassemble the crank and then look for a little color indicator (dab of paint?) to know which you need. He also said that he's heard of people - I guess the ones that cannot locate the color indicator - just using any one of the three without any problems.

Question - Why the three versions and are they interchangeable?

Thanks

He is right, look at the crankshaft chart, once you get the crank out you will see
the paint mark by the crank pin .

They make them a different color for a reason I would not mix and match
the chart shows the different sizes.

no dabs of paint that i jave seen

i would get a new rod and pin too and then the parts guy would have to match them to get the right ones.

the existing pin should have hash marks on it. if you can get the middle stuff it should work with either, if i remeber right, one of the sizes is no longer available.
