Hey guys,

Whats the story on professionally punching out a FL400 cylinder to accept a CR500 piston? Good way to go?

Great idea but if you can weld, bang for the buck is sled Engine. Revs out hard which the CVTs like and very inexpensive parts.

You can call Chris at CW Racing and talk to him. He is very open to talking on the phone to discuss setups and he still does the 440 kits. eBay has a 583 rotax for 350$ right now. Sooner or later all of mine will be going sled engines. Parts are so readily available.

The current problem with sled conversions is support from Farr. Not sure exactly whats happened nor why, but seems Rotax conversion kits are no longer available for those with limited fabrication ability. Theres a few too many components which Farr had nicely put together - IE the conversion mount, fuel tank, exhaust modification... It might have been a bit more than say if I had snowmobiles at my disposal; but the convenience of a complete kit is important for me.

I have not seen a snowmobile in 25 years. There are NONE around me.

I did talk to Chris at CW. Seems a decent way to go for upgrading the stock 400 mill. Still +$1000 to go with a CR500 sleeve. Still though a cr500 ain't going to match a 600+ HO/PV swap.

rotax would be sweet, and I have a 670 here on the farm..but for some reason I just can't do it..I can fab everything my self that's not a problem, I just have fallen in love with the 360, its been running great for last couple years now. but 100-120HP would be killer.
