So, need to replace starter on FL350 I picked up. Also noticed the recoil starter is missing rope. I've heard these are quite "fun" to do so let's hear any tips and tricks that might be out there to help a fella out. Appreciate it. Thanks y'all!!!

1) Starter: This job is a major pain in the azz if you have to do it while the Engine is in the machine. You have to remove the carb and air filter. You also remove the Engine/transmission bracket on the clutch side. You also loosen off completely the two bolts that hold the rear starter bracket onto the Engine casing and completely remove the two bolts that hold the starter onto this bracket. Then the swearing starts. Good luck. IF the Engine is out you're golden.
2) Recoil rope: Go to your local gun shop and buy 70" of 3/16" para cord.
3) Recoil rubber sleeve: Most of the time the rubber sleeve over the rope going to the pull start handle is ripped. You buy a bicycle inner tube and use that. Looks almost original. Use zip tie to hold on to cover.
