I used an online calculator to guesstimate the 0 to 60 mph time of an oddy.
Top speed of an oddy is 63 mph so no sense calculating for anything higher.
I got a time of 8 sec approx with a 130 lb driver (730 lb total).
This is the site I used: http://assassinracing.com/tech/0-60calc.html
You will note that they ask you to input flywheel HP and there is always drive line losses. But I used the 33 HP at the wheel that I got on my failed dyno testing in my shop.
If any of you guys run one of those gps things on your machine then please confirm the 0 to 60 time for me. Thx in advance for any replies.

Pretty sure you can download a free app for your phone?

Experimented with a phone app today.
I made two runs on a gravel logging road.
Had trouble getting a gps lock on the phone app but managed to get two readings.
It showed:
10mph in 3.1 sec - 20mph in 3.6 - 30mph in 4.4 - 40mph in 8.3 - 51mph in 11.9 sec.
1/16th mile in 8.2 sec and 1/8th mile in 12.8 sec.
Best I could do was the 1/8th mile and then had to let off due to road conditions. Around here that's all you really get for a full throttle run.
I got a lot of wheel spin on the gravel and it was a bit up hill.
Also carrying that heavy pack on the back, but since I don't weigh much (130lbs), I just call it even since most riders are a lot heavier than I am.
When I get a chance some other time I will do a run on pavement and post results. Might have to make some adjustments on that app, as they tell you to turn certain stuff off if you have gps issues.
The first run was obviously wrong so won't even post it.
CO

Edit: I just looked at that app data again. It showed the first 3 sec going 5mph and then the graph showed an almost straight up climb to 30mph and then a steady climb to 51mph.
I think the first 3 seconds were full wheel spin before it got a bite on the road.
I feel we could actually pull 3sec off that 50mph reading in my opinion.

Looking at those numbers, if I pull 3 sec off that 51mph time because of wheel spin, then the 0-50 time is 9sec.
It took about 4 sec to go from 40mph to 51mph so it we add another 4sec to from 50mph to 60mph (optimistic) then the 0 to 60 time is 13sec best case scenario.

The app is called Drag Racer.
I think it's android only but not sure.
The only shittty part is that I can't export the file to my computer. Maybe if I payed for something but I don't know. It was free and that's all I wanted.
Here it is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... r&hl=en_CA

You can take screen prints

If we all use the same app the data can be put in a spreadsheet.
I'll give it a shot and see.

Well I spent some time researching how to take "screen prints".
Managed to figure it out ------ cool stuff.
Anyways below is a "screen shot" of the run I made yesterday.
At the very bottom of the graph it shows time in seconds. You have to look close.
You will notice the first 3 sec where it does almost nothing and then jumps straight up. That was the wheel spin I was talking about. It took about 2 sec to go from 5mph to 30mph. Then about 4sec to get to 40mph and about another 4 sec to get to 50mph. This could all be my clutching. I have a red spring in the driven clutch. A 94c with light homemade pucks.
Also if you look close it shows the distance in feet to get to each speed.
It took 120ft to get to 30mph and it took 600ft to get to 50mph.
One thing that disappointed me was that I got on the brakes real hard after each run. I was hoping the app would show the braking distance and time. It didn't -- to bad.
If you download the pic and zoom in you can see the numbers better.

too bad it doesn't calculate the HP based on weight acceleration and distance

Get a cheap pay per use android just for your tests and then don't use it anymore ??

Also during this ride my brothers machine wouldn't start with the starter. We had to use the pull start. Pic below shows why. I don't think there is a FN thing we haven't busted on these machines.

if something is going to break, that looks like what I would choose, good that you have a pull start back up, I carry a pull back to camp rope

My brother and I are planning on making a couple of test runs on a flat pavement section either today or tomorrow. Stay tuned.
One or two runs on each machine.

My machine has a 38mm flat slide, red spring in driven clutch, 94c with homemade light weight pucks, DG pipe, stock muffler.

My brothers machine is the one with the super Engine. Engine has been worked by previous owner. It has 38mm flat slide, 2mm shaved off cylinder, cats eyes porting, 94c, stock driven, Bills pipe with FM style ear bleed muffler.

Heading out for our speed runs now.
It'll be a couple of hours before I post results.
CO

Edit: Failure
I kept losing gps signal because of the mountains. That caused the app to not record the results. It did show top speed. Had 3 runs at 62mph.
We are going out at 8pm tonight to a different area so hopefully I won't lose gps signal there. Very limited here. FN hills all around us.
Will post late tonight.

Well another failure.
I just keep losing gps signals.
Not sure what the next step is.
It's so strange that I get a 38% signal up in the mountains but down in the valley here the app keeps losing the signal. It goes from getting 100% signal to zero. WTF??.
The sad part is that up in the hills I got a reading but had 3 sec of wheel spin in the gravel. Down here in the valley where the pavement is, I got nothing. Tried two totally different areas but no cigar.

There is one other comment I would like to make --- Brakes !!
Since our driving is done on mountain roads, which are gravel and rough, you don't notice any twitchyness when you get on the brakes.
While I was doing these test runs on pavement the machine would jump to the right when I got hard on the brakes at the 62mph top speed.
I don't know if this is an uneven front brake shoe setting or a suspension issue. I'm suspecting a possible brake shoe setting. It could be suspension because I'm running my homemade reversed stock front rims viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17688 but I'm not sure.
Basically check your machine on pavement at high speed braking.

Race car drivers! Whats a guy to do.
The 350 has a brake bias control. Covered in section 12 of the manual, see pic

Al kidding aside, be careful

Don't give up on the spread sheet.
My brother and I are going out to another area I scouted out at the airport.
I ran my truck with the app and it showed good out there.
So the plan is to go out around supper time tonight. Should be able to post the runs by about 8pm west coast time. I don't give up that easy. I don't have to win the fight, I just have to get busy with ya.
CO

Edit: I really want this data because no one seems to have posted anything on actual performance of an oddy or pilot on this site. It's also important because we will be able to actually see the difference between a high modified Engine and a basically stock Engine with just a pipe and carb. Clutching will make a big difference but both our units have 94c clutches. Yes mine does have home made pucks in it but so what. If I get time one day I will also run the death machine and post the results here. That unit is almost completely stock but it does have my home made head on it. This will give you some data for your spread sheet so I hope this works out later today.

CO, since your going to need test runs. Try comparing no load start, smashing the gas. Then use rear break to load the clutch at engagement rpm. Then you can play with the throttle to get good launch. Check your tire pressures. Lower it to get better bite if need be. Start off at what you run then lower a pound than two.
Have fun

I'm limited to what comes off the trailer. I have a limited amount of time before the cops show up. This is Canada which is full of left wing save the world everybody is good lets hold hands and sing we all live in a rainbow submarine retards. This is also a public road that goes around our local airport that is located about two miles from where I live. Don't want to antagonize the people on the other side of the runway. I just hope the app works long enough for two runs on each machine. That would be good enough for me right now. Then death machine on another day.
