Yeah there’s a few factors that can affect the outcome. I know I’m getting more fuel now. Had to take the jet out of the return line as it was pushing past needle and come out the over flows

No one mentioned fuel line diameter. 5/16” fuel line will flow more than 1/4” etc.

Also the pulse line. Smallest braided line works best - get a small diameter with no flex to boost the signal.

Hey fully --- at the end of the day what was the result here ??
Did you do a flow test using the Honda method of testing at idle or just the starter ??
Was it a poo filter ??
I just want to know because just like you I have struggled a lot with this over the years.

I ended up just running it the way it was. With fuel filter in place. Ran great for the first hour or so. Then started to have issues. Pulse line somehow came off. Then the fuel line to the carb came off. Tighten the hell out of them. It would run fine for 5-10 minutes the. Act like it was running out of fuel. Tried running on reserve made no difference. Had trouble with it idling right from the start of the day. It would stay at 3000rpm one stop. Then next time it would’ve 500 and hardly able to stay running. I was constantly adjusting it. After a few hours of this bull shit we towed it back to the trailer and went home. Pulled the carb. Sparkling clean. So I pulled the exhaust and did a pressure test. And turns out I have torn my intake boot open. Not sure when this happened. I have one tiny crack in a reed but I am unsure if it affects anything. I shoud of but didn’t do a fuel flow test when I got home. This pump is supposed to put out 65L/hr. Had a dead battery by the time I got home as well from trying to start it so many times on the trail. Not sure if it’s charging while riding. Ever since I filed the slide on my carb to a different profile it’s hard as ((Bad Word)) to start.

Ok so. Still having fuel problems below half a tank. I’ve installed a custom intake and pressure tested it and it has passed. Talked with CO and maybe thinking that my cap isn’t venting properly. Is there a way to take cap apart and clean it properly. How much pressure is the cap supposed to hold be fire venting if any? It’s strange that it runs great till 1/2-3/4 tank then runs like poo. Also. Is it possible to replace the lines in the fuel tank. Tank is clean as you can see in the pics.

CO. No I went for a ride on Wednesday but blew a belt so I only burnt less than half tank. I did hit the cap with some air and the vent is free.

It also still won’t come down to an idle. Need to pull carb and check needle and seat. Or buy a smart carb. I did notice on this last ride I might have a very small base gasket leak.

Ohhhh that don't look good.
I bet my rent money that's the high idle issue. That has happened to me several times on my FL350's. My leaks have been under the exhaust port on the base gasket.
That's a poofkaboom waiting to happen.
Also you are losing vacuum so your fuel pump ain't getin the full pull. You are losing head as the tank gets low and the pump has to pull the fuel that much higher. With less vacuum it's struggling to do that. JMO.

The idle was happening before that leak had started. Pulled Engine at end of season last year when that intake boot ripped. Installed the custom intake and new fuel pump for a twin cylinder sled Engine. 95liters a minute is what it’s supposed to put out.

The idle started this year with the fuel pump and the intake. Past leak down no problem.

I feel like the fuel pump is over powering the needle and seat. Need to inspect. Been seriously considering buying a 38mm smart carb. And putting the 39mm PWK on the shelf

Smart carb I believe you can use your stock throttle cable. Lectron you can’t.

Yes they are expensive but from what I have heard they are worth it. I have spent hours trying to dial this PWK in. But I only have a few needles. One slide and more jets than ever needed. But there’s so much you can change. And I’ve never got it to where I felt like I cujust hold the throttle steady and not see my EGTs climb. Smart carb and lectron take all that crap away. Just a metering rod.

CO. A smart carb for your elevation changes would be worth it.

What size did you go with
