Spent some time tonight working on my winter list.
One of the things on the list was making a new longer front brake arm for the master cylinder.
I wanted to do this after the Eureka mine ride because I had a hell of a time locking the front wheels. Really had to squeeze the handle because the road was so steep. I could always lock the front wheels but if you're going down hill you must apply a lot more pressure. It was really bad on the Eureka mine ride.
So basically I made an arm that is 3/8" longer. This added about 20% + to the lever ratio.
If you look close you can see the pivot hole in the arm I made is smaller than the hole in the original arm. It was worn bad and I actually had a piece of shim stock in it to make up for all of the slop.

Yes the longer arm rubs a bit on the plastic cover but so what. It's plastic an has wiggle room.

Next on the list was adjusting the front brakes.
In the first pic you see the back of the steering wheel and the very small adjuster screws for setting the brake handle on the steering wheel. I took this pic to show what this screw looks like when it's backed off all the way. If you look close you can see the screw for the rear brake and it's in a bit.
In the next pic you see a wrench. You will have to make one of these to get at the lock nut that's inside the steering wheel. It's a tight spot and without this wrench you will fight a lot. It's an 8mm.
I actually moved the arm on the brake handle splines to get the handle where I wanted it. I got small hands and hate "reaching" for the brake lever.
