Well another quiet night at PO.com so I'll post something.
Yesterday I modified my Chinese lathe/mill so that I can cut left hand threads.
The problem with these cheap machines is that there is no way to run the carriage the opposite way to the chuck. Even if you use the reverse feature the carriage will also run in reverse. So you have to add an idler gear which will accomplish what we want. See pics.

So why cut left hand threads ??
Because I wanted to make a flywheel puller. The threads in the flywheel are left handed. See pics.

File comment: Easy way to pick up swarf is to wrap a shop towel around a hand held magnet. Then pull towel off and presto clean rag --- repeat.

Very nice. Wish I had nicer tools to work with. I got a hack saw and hammer

Yeah that's a struggle when a guy doesn't have the tools.
Even if you got the knowledge, if you don't have tools you're done.
