Just picked up my first pilot a couple of weeks ago. It has a PWK carb (uncertain the size), a tuned pipe & silencer but unfortunately the previous owner knew very little about it & couldn't tell me what brand the parts are. Anyway, I'm experiencing some Engine "blubbering" at a moderate load & suspect a jetting issue, but wanted to make sure I'm running an appropriate spark plug as well.

Can any of you Engine gurus here confirm that with mods similar to mine I should be running the stock recommended NGK BR7ES plug?

Thanks in advance!

if the Engine is stock check to see where your carb settings are at now, also it 30 plus years old have the reeds ever been changed? I would check the general condition of the Engine, compression, leakdown check, check the condition of the plug wire and boot, reeds and go from there.

Thanks for the advice. Forgot to mention it has V force cage & reeds as well. It came from a certified Honda tech but he didn't know a whole lot about it. Long story short, it was his mother-in-law's & she had obtained it as part of an inheritance, so the tech just went over it, changed the jets out, looked at the top end & put a new belt on it then sold it.

any time you change something the jetting becomes a crap shoot, with a pipe you definately will need to check jetting, v force reads, maybe, you should still go over everything to see what your starting point is.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the jetting is off.. Just want to get a good idea what base line settings should be before I start fooling with stuff.

If it has the stock air box and intake remove the lid off the air box take it for a ride see if it improves.
