Just picked up 2 new to me pilots. I've been in the Buggy world for about 20 years. My 2 boys are getting to the age of trying something new(been on dirt bikes and 4wheelers for a years) and stumbled onto these on ePay. Plan to keep 1 bone stock and pretty and possibly build my own long travel suspension for the other. Anyway, hoped into one last night after cutting grass and planned to buzz around the property for a few minutes. fired up and then ran like crap. having just cleaned the plug, i removed it again to get a good reading and it was rich. This pilot never has run as strong as the other despite its aftermarket exhaust. Decided to lower the needle to the top ring as it generally cleared out and ran strong up top. go figure, the clip popped off and was gone. spent an hour looking and finally found it stuck under skid plate. reinstall and no difference. felt choked... so while driving i kept fiddling with choke thinking it must be stuck. Started running better than ever! I really miss these simple 2-strokes!!

pull the airbox lid off and see how it feels, there is an airbox mod that helps, if your not going through deep mud and water glue in a 4" PVC 45 and put on a K&N type filter as a pre-filter, use a foam filter inside with sticky oil like FFT, the pre filter can then be run dry.
Welcome!

Found them on ebay, but worked out a cash deal. Love the king shocks on the race car and the fox up front. Not very brand loyal :-)
I plan to at least re-ring both pilots and some small stuff to the '89 here soon.

He seemed like a nice guy. I was trying to buy just the storage lid, giving him a stock lid and some cash. He didn’t seem interested.

You sure have a nice shop. Post your progress on these machines. Site has been slow and would enjoy seeing your work.
