Hello folks!

I am rebuilding one of my few Pilot's that I now own and this one has been changed over to the 39MM PWK carb.

The stock throttle cables won't work, and the one that is on there is kind of futzed.

Does anyone know where I can get a throttle cable that will work with the 39MM carb on our buggies? Is there one from a motorcycle that cross references maybe?

I know that chucklenuts at aftershot motorspurts had one at one time, but they are sold out and probably never going to get them again.

Any direction would help. I did look at this page: http://www.pilotodyssey.com/39mm.htm and it shows a good idea to use vacuum hose to stop letting dirt in but it doesn't give any info on an alternate cable.

I know this is not the answer you want but I see NO reason why you can't make a throttle cable. Here is a thread I did on a busted rear FL350 cable: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17826&hilit=rear+brake+cable
What I did was go to a bicycle shop and got a cable and cut it to length. No reason you can't do this. At the other end of your cable (when you have the length you want) you fray it a bit. Then you make a tip on that fray with a bunch of solder. File to fit.
If you still have a usable original sheath then just slide a new bicycle cable into that liner and make a new end with solder. File to fit.

Thanks for the advice. I looked at that thread, and as always you've done a great job documenting the build of the brake cable.

The throttle cable is a bit trickier because of it sliding into the housing and threading to the top of the carb but it certainly can be done.

I have a stock cable I can start with and just customize the end of it. Solder worries me a bit but maybe some lead fishing weights ground down to size might work?

I was hoping some one actually had a real cable but necessity is the mother of all invetion.

Thanks for the reply!

Does anyone know if it's just the top that is different on the 39MM carb or is the threading also different?

your local motorcycle shop should be able to help to get a customer cable setup you will need to know the type of end and the free length

Hello, use a FL350 throttle cable, it has the threads for the carb. top and is the right length, it will go right on.

Here is a link to an aftermarket one from a good seller.
