Saw this video today and just want to share it because of the very simple and effective explanation of a two stroke pipe.
I know most of you know this but want to share it anyway.
This guy has a great series on building this Engine. I subscribed and have watched it from the start. He is planning on running at Bonneville to break the world record 50cc speed record.
This Engine is a supercharged 50cc two stroke -- yup SUPERCHARGED !!
Anyways here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa5d8XQHlUc

In this video he explains the basic principle that a 2-stroke powerband is determined by the tuned pipe (resonating chamber?), The way he puts it gives me a crazy idea...

What if the length of the res chamber was ADJUSTABLE in real-time, resulting in an infinite powerband?
This would require a hydraulic piston with distance sensors controlled by Engine RPM. This would alter res chamber length. Chamber would have to be double-walled with a high-pressure seal so the outer wall rides on the inner wall when adjusting, and the system (although it would have to work very fast, actually perhaps this could be implimented manually for quicker response. But that's getting complicated. Er, and this whole idea takes away from reliability) would be continually variable. CVPB. Or no?

Kind of the same concept as variable valve timing.
