I put a dg pipe on my 77 fl250 a few years ago. it is way to loud and there is no spark arrest. i'm afraid i may not get to ride it at some parks. It's just a open pipe - you can stick a rod all the way through to the expansion chamber.

anyone have any experience or ideas that may work?

I was think something like the 2005 Big Gun 146 gram Vortex Quiet Insert. just not sure if this will have a negative effect on my machine. don't mind changing a jet if i have to.

Look at your pic again see the blue arrow if you grind off that weld the tube that runs to the end of the pipe will slide off, under the pipe you removed you will find a standard looking 2 stroke pipe you can weld in a pipe and elbow then attach a regular silencer, I don't know what the affects of adding the Vortex Quiet Insert would have...


Is that Vortex Quiet Insert design for a 4 stroke? If so hard telling if it would quiet your 2 cycle Engine since a 4 stroke produces different frequencies than a 2 cycle the 2 stroke also produce 2x as many exhaust pulses as a 4 stroke at the same RPM
