The previous owner told me to hold out the choke and try to start it for 30sec at a time. This isnt working. I have tried for 2min and am afraid that im going to kill the battery. Any suggestions?

Pull the plug, is it wet, getting gas? If its dry can you pour some gas in the plug hole or remove the slide from the carb and pour in table spoon then try starting...

It had some gas inside of it, not really wet though.

If you have spark then add a little gas try it again, the carb might be dry some Pilots and Odysseys the lines drian back to the tank so it takes a while to prime it again.

You have spark?

You need spark, gas, air compression for the Engine to run.

Try to start it with the pull starter?

Check compression?

See this is whats weird. It started fine yesterday morning. I was at a high altitude in OR tho, and then ever since I loaded it into the truck and brought it home... been dead =\ So I don't see how anything could be wrong with it already. I cant do anything until the battery recharges. Ugh this sucks. WHY does every Odyssey I get have to die as soon as I get it home!?!? I tried the pull start and again...nothing. It has a spark, plenty of gas and excellent comression.

On the 350's if the starter or battery is weak it will affect the spark enough they wont start, I have seen them turn over like new and like they have a full battery but never start then start with the pull start, recharge the battery, change the plug and try pull starting .

You test compression?

My compression at first read 90, I was like *what the ****", but then I checked again to be sure and it came in at 135.

You know your **** man. I took the battery off and hooked it to a charger and on the 3rd pull... BAM, started straight up and pushed all the gas out. I charged the battery hooked it back on just a few min ago and it started up in no time. I love the watercooled head on her and the radiator is pretty nice. If you want I can post some pictures.
